Yeah when it rains a whole lot I’ll get a little water dripping off of a couple bolts. Not enough for me to care or do anything to change it though.

Couldn't throw a little sealant under the edge of the inner tube bits?

I did, I put silicone in the bolt holes as I was bolting the feet on. It’s hardly any water at all, nothing to cause any concern. Just a couple drips

It probably will. I’m going to see if I can glue a couple small pieces of rubber to the hook so I can suck it in like the flat link. I don’t like having it hooked to a shackle.

Kinda. There’s no rubber in between the fairlead and hook so it’s not ideal. Not sure if it’ll damage the fairlead but I barely pulled it against it. Gonna see if I can diy some rubber in there.

Remember I had mine hooked to a shackle and it shook itself loose at AOAA

The shackle pin did? Did you have tension on the winch line? Before the factor 55 I had steel line/hook hooked to a shackle and it was snug and the shackle never backed out.

If I end up needing to clip it to a hook I’ll likely get an extra shackle that I’ll tighten with a wrench so it won’t come loose and I can leave the winch line slack.

I just don’t like the little bit of syn line exposed to the elements like that 24/7

At work, on shackles we want to stay put we will just mar the threads on the shackle bolt so it won't back out.

I just had a thought. I wonder how well some sort of silicone would hold up. Just a few large dabs in select locations to act as a rubber pad.

I was thinking I would just weld the pin to the shackle, but as I type this I realize that's a bad idea because the heat might compromise the integrity of the shackle. Red loctite would do the trick.
