I think he's implying that rtic wouldn't have even got started if yeti charged 40 percent less. I don't buy it.

I was at Target this weekend and a pitiful looking igloo cooler had some cute rubber strap's to make it look durable.

 

Yes, if yeti wasn't so costly other companies would have a harder time taking away sales. Simple economics

Basic price rules all, in my book. I'm not concerned about who made it first or who ripped it off. Deciding factors are:
-do they work the same
-which is cheaper

If I want a tumbler, I'm not going to spend $30-40 on a yeti, or $25 on an RTIC...I'll go buy the Walmart ripoff for $8 or whatever. Plenty to show they hold up just as well at a fraction of the cost. If wally world is profiting on an $8 version, Yeti is just making money hand over fist. It's not my job to make sure they get business because "they were first" or "they were ripped off." If they want the sale, price it competitively.

FWIW I've had the same igloo cooler for 5 years, stands up to 10-15 uses a year of getting tossed, thrown around the garage and in the truck and all. I find it difficult to break a cooler...what are people doing to these things lol.

Putting this here for a chance, doubtful but worth a shot. I recently got from a supplier I do hundreds of thousands of dollars with annually, a Yeti Tundra 75. The problem is I already have a Tundra 75 that I currently use on my boat. I'm looking to see if there is any chance someone has a 65 that they may want to make a straight trade for my brand new Tundra 75 in desert tan. It doesn't even have to be new, or even Yeti, but I'd like it to be one of the top brands and it should be in very good, almost like new condition. This cooler is brand new and the Hilti logo is not a sticker, it's screen printed. I would think it would be best to be someone local to NH or MA so we could meet up, it's just too big to ship. Never hurts to ask!

Like a champ. I’m watching for the clearance sale and pick another up. I’m also thinking about picking up the imitation yeti tote

 

I’ve got one of those. It works really well. I don’t use it for long overnight trips but it is solid and doesn’t leak.

For the price, can’t beat it.

 

Mine got water inside some how, started to stink so it got tossed, but was good till then.

 

For $30. I’ll use freezer packs. I take 1 gallon ziplock bags half full and double bag them. I know the yeti tote was crazy priced.

 

Can anyone confirm if a RTIC 45 and 65 will or will not fit under an OEM tonneau cover on a 3rd gen? Thanks

 

My 45 sits just below the side rail level in my 2nd gen. I believe the 3rd gens have a deeper bed.

 

To update the record and complete the archives... just got the RTIC 65 I ordered and yes, it fits fine in a 3rd gen under the OEM cover. About an inch to spare.

 

As a heads up. I bought an RTIC cooler on eBay during a 20 percent off sale. First time we used it, it went in my wife's SUV, leaked water all over. No matter what I tried, it still leaked from the drain. I contacted the warranty department. Since it wasn't purchased directly from their site, they don't honor a warranty.

I wish I had purchased a different brand. Tried to save myself a little money, and bought a product from a company that doesn't stand behind them. Keep that in mind when searching. Now I've got an expensive heavy cooler that's headed to the dump.

 

I disagree. I've dropped mine out of the back of the Rzr climbing hills where it rolls down, accidently backed over it on the Rzr where it lifted my rear tires off the ground, and also left my tailgate down on my truck and had it fall out while on the trails. I'd be purchasing 3 plastic Igloo coolers if it lived in my possession lol.

 

Sounds like you need to buy a couple tie downs, lol.
