Im looking for a bed extender for my 2017 trd sport.
Any ideas? I found the OEM one and the AMP one - which is better- where to purchase from?
    Thanks in advance.

I personally like this design better. Uses up more of the tailgate. I'll get it next paycheck.

That looks like the OEM correct? Where do you plan on buying it?

The oem one is more of a triangle design I personally don't like that.

I think they changed the shape to the triangle to prevent obstruction to the tailights.

Yea that's true. Wonder if it's illegal to have the one I want?

AMP makes the OEM bed extenders for Toyota. I believe the original design, for Toyota at least, was the more square version that uses more of the tailgate. They changed it to the more triangular version due to the visibility of the tail lights being obstructed from certain angles. The more square one is not illegal by any means, just arguably a bit less safe.

You can also use a Nissan Frontier Bed Extender. They are made by the same company that does Toyota's bed extender which is AMP. The Frontier model also comes with brackets for the rail system. You'll just need to buy the Fixed mounting bracket and Toyota latch kit.

I'm looking at getting a used bed extender that came off a 2001 Nissan Frontier; would it work on my 3rd gen Tacoma?

It doesn't have any hardware, so if it would work, what exactly do I need to buy to make it work? Thanks

I don't know for sure if it would work. My experience is only with the current gem Frontier extender. You can find the mounting brackets on the AMP website, eBay, Amazon, etc.

Look for some pictures of the old and current bed extender and see what type of mounting hardware they used on that one you are looking at.

I have the OEM, picked it up used for $75. Got the quick release brackets off Amazon. I love it!!! It's great for keeping things like groceries from moving all around and they don't take up room in the back seats!!

Do those quick release brackets with the little lever allow you to install and remove the bed extender from any angle?
