Perhaps you should only drive uphill then.

I hope everyone sees where this going. Time to move on........

If it goes away going uphill that would mean that it is related to some part of the driveline being out of angle or the suspension geometry being off.

Then “move on” from my thread...I’m just trying to find a fix so that everyone can enjoy their ride in the way a new truck SHOULD operate. If you’re not going to help then get out of the way...

I’d be willing to try that or carrier bearing spacer if that fixed it . Cheap fixes but in fairness not something you should have to do from the factory.

Mine comes from the whole truck like a building oscillation (soldiers marching on the bridge in resonance) , also at 50ish mph I get train chugging feeling ... not a big problem just avoid that exact speed... I just wonder if it’s all related to one issue.

    Edit : production date 10/2018

No clue. Toyota has no clue. All we know is that it’s felt in the steering wheel between 20-30 mph. Replacing rear axle and driveshaft doesn’t fix the problem bc that’s what they first tried with mine until Toyota decided to give up.

you should change stealerships until you get one that at least tries. My 18 did it. It is lifted 6" and they tried to blame the lift/aggressive 33 inch tires but I wasn't buying that so they did the TSB for rear axle replacement and guess what problem solved.

And the reason I keep say transmission is because after it shifts at 25-26 mph most all of the time, the vibrations stop even if it’s still in the 20-30 range.

Well there’s a common problem with Tacoma’s in the front diff. Mine did it when I bought it between about 25-35 mph.. I’m pretty sure it’s why the guy traded it into the dealer I got it from. There’s a needle bearing on the drivers side of the diff that has greater tolerances and causes a vibration. It was super fucking annoying. East coast gear supply makes a bushing that removes this issue. It’s pretty damn easy to replace if you’re mechanically inclined at all.

Without knowing how it vibrates it would be hard to really know what’s going on. Driveline vibes can be so hard to track down because the vibrations can be translated throughout the vehicle via the drivetrain.

Anyway it’s a $20-$30 (can’t remember) part and a VERY conservative 4 hour install time for a rookie. It’s also a very well documented procedure. May be worth a shot. Just trying to help, hang in there G.

Op truck is so new though would the needle bearing need replacing that quickly ?

It’s possible, the needle bearing itself does not have tight enough tolerances. When mine was removed (28k miles) it looked brand new, it’s an engineering oversight, not a wear problem.

I had a 98 Ranger that suddenly got a vibration problem. It ended up being the emergency break was stuck. It literally got hot enough the one time I could smell it. That's how we found it.
