At the risk of dating myself, reminds if of when power brakes first came out. People said they were touchy and even dangerous. And some even refused to buy cars with those new fangled brakes. Now it's the norm and not only have drivers gotten use to them, they wouldn't buy a car/truck without them now. And BTW,, I live in South Florida and stop and go traffic here isn't rare. ;)

I dont believe that is true as i used to daily an inline4 600cc R6 and it can only use 91 minimal because of the high compression ratio.5 gallon tank, if it was using regular at 16500rpm redline that would not be good i imagine.

EDIT- sorry thought you said 7gallons lol! Didnt see it said point 7

What rpm range does the Atkinson cycle operate on or is it always on? Does the biggest factor for how much fuel is used come from load or rpms? Playing with different build ideas...

Been on 91(Still bitter that WA only offers 92 octane) tune for about year an half, trying 87 base tune now. Backing up into parking lot on slight incline with 91 performance tune was ridiculous lol, it was like riding a bull

Ok so Im sorry if this has been asked already, but whats the difference between base mpg 87, and performance 87? From what I read in OP they're the same except P87 has gearlock and a little more HP at high rpms but maintains the better mpgs of the base tune when driving it like a normal person. Am I missing something? Im about to tune as soon as I get some help on this/finish my dr Pepper.

Absolutely not a complaint. it’s a contribution to the build. This thread still call ALPHA release. :)

I use to ride a 883 Sportster with a 2.25 gal peanut tank. Had the "factory aftermarket" exhaust, intake, and tune. Was told to use 93 when filling up but always wondered how much sloppy seconds 87 was going in the tank

I would assume that clearing the learned values with techstream would be the most efficient way to get the ECU to start liking a different grade of fuel if the vehicle is temperamental about such changes

Finally got the motivation to go and flash the 91 performance... HOLY HELL. It's going to take a little getting used to, but its amazing. No longer feel like I'm fighting the gas pedal and transmission to get the truck moving and keep it going. @OVTune, keep up the great work! I think, after owning the truck for 6 mos, I can honestly say I love the truck now.

Scarey ! I Have learned by habit to look for gas pumps with multiple hoses for each grade. Figure you have a 3 gallon tank , you buy gas when you have 1 gallon left . The pump has 1 hose but you choose premium. The last guy bought regular . So you get .7 gallons of regular and 1.3 of premium . Do this 3 times and you are pretty much running regular fuel . Easy way to have a problem . I can see Tacoma owners doing the same thing with switching between 87 , 91,93 fuels.
