Hell no, was gonna order a set from LC Engineering but found out that CP/Carillo makes them for LCE soo just ordered them direct with hastings rings.

Ideally you want to see very little carbon in there, mine looked like a bomb went off just black gross carbon buildup everywhere.

It's how I've run all my builds over the years, or at least since I've been documenting them online. There's so few 4cyl builds and even fewer that are willing to go out and bang on the tough obstacles, I feel it's important to put that info out there. Especially when there's so many convinced that the 4cyl can't do it

Oh ya at 65$ it's a decent price point. I'm not super happy with mine but it works for now. Getting the truck working is more important than looks right now

I have the 2.7 as well. Just wondering how your truck did with 33's? Im currently at 32's but thinking of jumping up to the next size. Just worried I might lose a bunch of acceleration and gas mileage with the added size and weight of the 33's. Thanks!

I never put 33s on it I went from 32s to 35s. You'll loose some but not a huge amount it also depends on what other mods you have done to your truck

    This
    If your auto good luck

Okay cool thanks. I have a 5spd with LCE headers and deleted cats. My motor puts out a pretty good amount of torque now so i'm thinking 33'a would work. Thanks for the advice, i'm enjoying your build!

The biggest hit you'll take is start off and overall mpgs. It shouldn't be too bad but you'll notice a difference. Especially if you have steel armor as well as lift and tires.

    Brake shoes showed up

What's left from when I installed the arp studs. Take that junk off

Now use a screwdriver or a pick to spread the clips apart don't stab yourself. It hurts
    IMG_20190305_121322_d980b8f81f6f9533c8279c2aa5793acfd38b56af.jpg

So the adjuster I couldn't figure out how to get the spring off so I just reused it. Oh ya I got raybestos premium shoes on sale and a spring kit.
    IMG_20190305_121652_52a823b7a378201b1131c0bbe961c5b77637d0e9.jpg

Inspect the wheel cylinder for damage the boots will need to be replaced on this one but the rebuild kits are on backorder so it'll have to do for now. Next use a wire brush and clean up the backing plate.
    IMG_20190305_121951_5fb9de98d931932b3dab98b84ddd0fce91e82803.jpg

Dab some Cooper slip into the contact areas so everything moves nice
    IMG_20190305_123104_0c28bb80391d24433869a8058444e34cef10ffef.jpg
At this time dab a bit on the adjuster threads.

    Reassemble the shoe like so
    IMG_20190305_123050_d31adbd37ebb4012680b074cdd6ba5eb0c14c3b4.jpg
You'll need to maneuver the bottom ebrake bracket over the riveted bracket on the bottom of the backing plate.

Reasemble the other side you'll need to dick around to get the spring and adjuster in there and sandwich everything with the ebrake cable brackets. The pin on the side attached to the truck goes in the big hole at the top of the shoe. Mess around with it to get everything to line up nice then put the new c clips on and pinch them
    IMG_20190305_123053_d3e6339b23ad18cb3338d71023c885ae47ef6ba7.jpg

Now the fun part put the rear shoe on the backing plate then the front side. Attach the bottom spring and mess with the adjuster so you can easily lol easily is a strong word. Maneuver the top spring into place. Much swearing later it's all together

Rinse wash repeat for the other side

Then I tossed the new tob on the trans as well and greased the fuck out of everything

Before the taco the gems were all disc. When I finally got around to doing rear shoes on the truck I’d forgotten how much they suck to do. Springs and more springs. Then more springs to secure to the backing plate.

    Any word on your engine?

Did you notice any low end torque loss when deleting your cats? i am considering doing that on mine. I also have a 5spd w/ LCE header, 33s, but with 4.88 gears. Curious how the truck felt after deleting them

I'll let you know when the engine comes back from the machine shop and when I get it put back in and running lol.. also if you go up you'll see where I removed the cats and added a large resonator chamber, so there should be some nice sound and back pressure even with he straight thru design of the magnaflow pro exhaust

Would really appreciate that man! :hattip:

Interesting i didnt know what kind of resonator that was, but one with some back pressure would be good for the 2.7 if deleting the cats. The one i have on my v6 is straight through and very little to no restriction. Id be interested in hearing some sound clips too once you get it all buttoned up. Really hoping the motor rebuild/install goes smoothly. Are those rings you put in a higher performance ring or a stock replacement? Curious how they'd do with boost

It's basically a glasspack style muffler, I've added to the downpipe, it'll flow better than the cats and won't plug, I'm expecting it to sound deeper with 2.5" exhaust all the way back to the muffler with a turn down tail pipe. The rings I've had them put in are hastings race series also got new pistons from cp, at .20 over, the failed rings scored the cylinder walls. It will be a completely new engine when I get it back
