Did you ever get behind a new Escalade ? Those led brakes are BRIGHT.
I'm all for attention giving to get people to slow down when brake lights are on .
Blinding ? Hardly. Bright? Hell yes...'Attention...I'm slowing down...I'm stopping' .
You're looking at a video + - 5ft away. Try couple car lenghs.

Between the new nav/radio displays & folks checking their phones at stupid times, you need to out bright those displays to get their attention.

I second this. One thing my dad brought up when LED taillights were first becoming a thing (way back) was the turn-on time compared to halogens. He explained that when doing 70mph, your car is moving a whole football field every 3 seconds, and those milliseconds can be several feet of extra stopping distance.

Exactly same reason why the defensive driving technique of "covering" your brake is true. It saves a fraction of a second to move your foot from the gas to the brake which could save you some distance in an emergency otherwise.

Agreed. That backup camera video looks like headlights are on. Check out the illumination of the cabin in the car behind. Woah.

Definitely like this project but can't say I agree with the strength of the bulbs lol.

Love the project too. There is a bit of a brightness arms race though, with no concern for other drivers that can ultimately have the reverse affect on road safety.

This probably isn't the spot to discuss this, so let me just say that Meso's stuff is fire, and you bet your ass I'm in for stage 1s when they're back in stock.

You always have the option to tint the V6 Triton lens if you find they are too bright. I think they are perfect. Keeps people off my ass when I'm turning. I never understood getting as close as possible to the person in front of you.

Stock= hey man I'm turning, Excuse me.

Tritons= HEY BRO IM TURNING LOOK THE FUCK OUT

can't wait to get the LED in the brake lights

Yeah they honestly aren't "too" bright. You can stare right at them without a problem. But they definitely get your attention.

Exactly. That's the point of bright tail lights.

After getting rear ended ..*TWICE*... I was on relentless search for brightest possible.

Hell, if I could hook up air horns when I brake , I would but that would cause a LOT of racket in traffic.

So this is highly debatable as to what is "TOO BRIGHT". From what I can gather in the law book, there is no maximum light cap for rear lights. But there is a minimum requirement for rear brake and turn signal visibility. At this point it would just be more of a courtesy issue. You can't really base brightness judgement off a picture, cameras can give a totally different illusion.
With that said.... I do not feel the stage 2 is too bright. The problem we are facing is we want to be SEEN in the daytime, as well as night. So a Stage 2 in the daytime/direct sunlight/etc won't seem overly bright at all. But on the flipside, at night they WILL seem that way. What would be cool(and I've thought about it before) is a dimmer function for night time output. In the Day you DEFINITELY want full brightness, but then at night maybe drop it to~75% output.
I prefer leaving them at 100% all the time. I would rather be TOO bright than TOO dim. Sorry if it offended a driver behind me, but hey at least you didn't crash into the back of me. BTW if you are behind a new escalate I would bet those turn signals are just as bright. And they are DOT certified..

The people questioning if the stage 2 is too bright don’t have stage 2 kits. They are not too bright. They are the perfect amount of bright. My 2 cents. And yes I have the stage 2.

Hey @mesojdm . Any update on VLEDs and their 7443 bulbs? I believe ETA was 2/28. Is that still accurate? I was just browsing VLED's site and I notice that have some 7443 bulbs that are available in stock.

I haven't heard yet, but I will check in tomorrow. Today was a SHIT day to be honest. My PC was hacked into last night and I've literally spent the entire day doing damage control(they got into my paypal, Amazon, chase, etc). I even had to wipe my computer and reinstall windows. I FU*$&% hate virtual thieves.

I agree. But not everyone has the same threshold of "just bright enough" lol
