mine does it fro time to time when i make or recieve a call. Iphone SE running the latest IOS. I think it might have something to do with IOS 11 as it didnt do this while my phone was on IOS10.

I wouldn’t be surprised if an underlying IOS issue was causing some of this, but I think if that is an issue, it may not be the only issue with mine. Could be wishful/hopeful thinking that the headset replacement will fix this issue, but mine wasn’t just rebooting. The screen blips off and on sporadically as well, regardless of the screen I’m on, nav, phone, music, etc. Fingers crossed mine truly is a hardware problem, but if the headset replacement fails I will just swap it out with that inexpensive Pioneer. It’s not stock but I would hopefully get a stereo that works consistently.

@Geddy - did the replacement end up fixing the issue for you?

I just took mine in and am waiting on a replacement radio as well. Hoping to get it in 2 weeks.

@GoalieMan33 - the dealer replaced the headset, but the problem persists, unfortunately. Super frustrating. I will likely replace with an Alpine in the spring.

@Geddy_Lee - thanks for info. I was skeptical when they gave me the news, but will report back. I've also been looking at aftermarket radios, trying to find best that won't sacrifice any of the features (camera, vehicle info ) that the stock radio provides .

I had this issue for quite a while and it now seems to have gone away after doing the entune update and running the latest version of iOS.

Mine seems to reboot after I have been listening to a podcast (or whatever) over bluetooth for 30 minutes or longer and then try to make a call. I'm on an iPhone 7Plus with the latest iOS version 12.1.2. I'll talk to the dealer about it when it's in for 5K later next week.

This happens when I do something weird with my phone while connected to bluetooth. For example, make a phone call and then quickly lock my phone, or mess with spotify. This doesn't always happen, but that's the type of scenario I have seen it. I go for my 15K next week and will bring it up and update here.

So I just ran to the store, 5 minute total trip. The radio rebooted 3 times during the way there and back. 4,500 miles on the truck, hadn't ever rebooted up to this point. I have the same phone since purchasing the truck. Wasn't streaming music, just listening to the radio.

Do I have the most current software on my truck? I do not recall ever updating. It is ghosted out where I would click to update the software.

I just checked my HU software, it reports one line item different... the current audio shows 01019A. I remember two Over The Air updates since purchase in 10/18. I’ve seen info online that allows for a USB download and update... perhaps check that out first. https://securedp.toyota.com/download-app/downloads

@toyotatacomaTRD - Tacoma3rdGen has a pretty good suggestion for you. I was having the same problem as you described in my 5th Gen 4Runner. I went to same site as mentioned above (in the link) and I downloaded the update to a USB drive and installed the update. I have been running the update for over a year on my 4Runner and the HU has not crashed and rebooted since. Hopefully the Tacoma update on the site cures your problem.

Has anyone had this successfully resolved? Just bought my first Tacoma, and very frustrated that I’m having this issue. Gets hung up while trying to make a hands free call, reboots, then works fine. I updated the system before pulling off the lot, but update history is blank (not sure this is related). Seems like at least once a day I can’t make a call because of this issue. I have a long commute and try to get some work done during, so I have lots of data points of failure in a short period of owning the truck. Would love to know this is resolvable.

Noticed mine occasionally reboots on long drives of 2 hours or more. 2016. Never done any upgrades and just listening to XM radio.

Mine reboot constantly, found that when i toggle the bluetooth to OFF on my phone, the radio stop rebooting. If i toggle Bluetooth to ON, the radio will reboot on a loop over and over...

Toyota have uptaded my radio with the latest software, it didn't change a thing, still reboot non stop. They will change my head unit next week.....

I'm on iPhone Xs on iOS 13.0 develloper beta but still when i was on ios 12.? public the radio was stil rebooting non stop.

WTF toyota, fix your god damn radio problems, i don't have this problem in any other brand of vehicule when connecting my phone right now...!!!

My head unit is doing the same thing, I have a video of it rebooting 3 times in as many minutes. None of any of the solutions mentioned above remedy the problem.

Mine does it all the time. I’m out of warranty but I think I’m just going to end up replacing it with an aftermarket head unit with wireless CarPlay. It’s ridiculous that they can’t find a fix for this which leads me to believe it’s a hardware issue.

Guys, the techs at your dealership can't even figure out your automotive mechanical issues half the time. The idea that they can effectively debug the interaction between two computers is laughable.

You're not going to necessarily like this, but what you need to do is reset the head unit back to factory defaults, then reset your phone back to factory settings and not activate anything (don't pair your headphones, don't reinstall Flappy Bird, don't restore your contacts, etc.). Take the two virgin devices and pair them. Then run it for a while. Slowly add shit back to your phone. Note when/if it starts breaking again.

It's a slow and iterative process, and it'll probably take several days, and you'll hate me if you reset your phone and it doesn't help.

But this is the only way to resolve it.

I just downgrade my iphone from ios 13 beta to ios 12.4. Seems to resolve the issue, not a single reboot since then.

BUT, only my radio from my TOYOTA was bugging and rebboting, i have try pairing my phone with others cars, ford, dodge, chevy, none of these radio where rebooting or seems like having an issue with my phone, only mine in my toyota, the same issue on my wife 2019 Highlander.

The problems is with the f**king toyota entune crap!
