Fluid Questions

i have been looking and trying to find out what everyone uses for front/rear/transfer case fluid and seen that most use

$30 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75w-90. Do you use that in all three or just front and rear and something else for transfer case? Also what is the best type. Going in a 15 TRD off-road. Thanks

 

I just use mobile for all 3 plus the trans. It’s a 6spd. Just make sure u use the one with the additive for the rear of ur truck has LS

 

75w90 is good to go for front and rear diffs and transfer case. If you have a 2015 TRD offroad then it's an open diff with the E-locker in the rear, so no limited slip, and no LS modifier (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

As far as the best fluid to use? ECGS, which many on here think highly of, recommends Lucas dino, or if you insist on synthetic the severe gear stuff from Amsoil. I think you're probably ok with most any brand, as long as it's the right weight/spec and you change it at the recommended times then you're already ahead of the game.

I put 75w90 synthetic in mine at 30k. When another 30k rolls around, I'll think about what to put it then.

 

I use 75/90 synthetic in all three...and change them once a year which equates to about every 50,000 miles. I don’t off-road or tow very often, light hauling mostly...ymmv

 

Does one use Amsoil 75w90 or Lucas 75w90 and if so which one is better?

 

I’ve used both in all of my Toyota trucks and SUVs over the years and noticed no noticeable difference between the 2 products. I’d say go for whatever is cheaper, and stick to the proper service intervals.

 

Just did all of mine transmission included with RP max gear 75-90. Runs smooth with no noise. I didn’t think you need LS additive as the 2015 doesn’t have a true limited slip diff. Isn’t it all brake controlled? Please correct me if I am wrong here.

Now do it again I think I will just go with Mobil1. Royal Purple was very expensive and probably not any better than Mobil1

 

Just get the proper viscosity brand doesn't matter

 

I used both as well last time. Amsoil Severe Gear in the rear and Lucas dino in the other 2.

 

I use it in all three like the manual says...
