I never understood why so many people were always talking about changing grills on their third gens... now i know why. That thing really is ugly. wow...

Ironically, Toyota put the better looking grill (IMO) on the lower trims

I like the SR grills... wouldn’t mind one of those but tough to find TSS compliant.

Saw you coming up the hill from the 167 on Monday. Truck looked good for the whole two seconds I saw it and said HEY I KNOW THAT GUY.

What it is guys, is Toyota is marketing to the older people with money. People in their 60’s grew up on the chrome and that was always considered the flex of having money when owning a vehicle.

They know the younger cats want black out (Trd pro in midnight black) but they are charging an arm and a leg to do so. Basically they are getting money from both generations.

But hey I’ll play the game because the value is there.

I like that one more myself over the off road one. Is your bike small or does the picture make it look small?

Man I genuinely hate to be that guy with a trim piece from a higher end model on my lower end vehicle(nothing rankles me more than like a regular BMW with M badges or something) but I just objectively think it looks SO MUCH better, and honestly would do the same thing if I had a Pro and the grille styles were reversed.

Also if you think the 18+ grille is bad just look at the grille(or, more accurately grillz) they attached to the 16/17 Off Road/Sport :puke:

I think the 16/17 looks better since it has the bars going across. Also putting the heritage grill IMO doesn't rice it out since it doesn't say Pro anywhere on it. Putting the Pro badges on though is another story.

The original grill looks good when plasti dipped...

Yup, up and down that hill every day. I live just up the hill, and work just down the hill. I guess i'll need to be on the lookout for a Quicksand Tacoma in the area from now on. Any defining mods yet? Mine stands out enough my buddy's 1.5 year old yelled "Ryan!" from his carseat the other day before I crossed in front of them at a random intersection, lol.

So, much agree with you. I have a 2017 Quicksand OR and chrome looks terrible on that color. Was looking for a SR grill couldn't find one fast enough, so went with a Pro grill.

Uhhhh... I'm 35, and chrome was all the rage when I had my first car. I had a 1991 Jeep Wrangler (4-banger). I had chrome tubular bumpers, nerf bars, grille cover, etc. Couldnt get enough.

Picture for reference... not mine, but very similar.

    12989905-1988-jeep-wrangler-std.jpg

My next car was a 1992 Mitsubishi 3000gt VR4. Put 18" chrome Enkei Zeus rims on it... which was a big rim at the time. Got stolen a week later, for the wheels.

Agreed. Plasti derp makes a big difference. Though, I would like to switch to another grill at some point. T3 ftw

I'm 47, and I HATE chrome, always have. Probably one of those things where "I don't like what my dad likes" situations. He would be in his 70's today (if he was still with us, miss you dad!). It is quite frustrating particularly with the Big 3 full size brands: Acres of chrome, and few options to get rid of it. Ford SDs have very few options to get rid of the chrome, and it usually only applies to the lower trim levels. Ram has a few options with their "Sport appearance package", but the color choices get limited when you select that package.

So at some point in the near future, Toyota (and the Big 3) will have to change their philosophy on who wants chrome. It's a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy too, as they have limited options to go chrome-less on the higher trim models. "See, everybody wants the high trim models, so they must like chrome!" instead of "I'm buying the higher trim model DESPITE the shitty chrome trim...."

Yeah, the pro grill is the best by far, but at the bottom of the list of things I want to do.

But the is that is that it’s not a BMW so people (unless they are avid Tacoma fans) arent going to be like that dude put a pro grill on a non-pro truck

Okay so what I’m trying to say is Chrome isn’t as popular as it was before.

Also sorry about your wheels being stolen that sucks. I know it happened forever ago but the pain is still there. Lol

Agreed the Ford Platinum is god awful ugly. I guess they need to make a Ford Onyx or something if we want black. [Contact me Ford for my permission to use that name]
