What WOULD work for you?

 

depends.

if it's a lunch workout option only....then the only feasibly thing would be Anytime Fitness down the road from my office.

if it's an evening workout option (my preferred) then a gym closer to my home so that I can go home first to the dogs and such and then go workout.

if it's a morning workout option then that opens it up a BIT more but would require more motivation from my partner to get into morning workouts lol

 

I honestly wouldn't mind getting back into basketball. I use to go to the Y off Hughes when I lived in Madison and played pickup games all the time but don't have anything like that over where I live. Softball, ultimate Frisbee, hell Frisbee golf, basketball, I'm out on soccer (grew up playing it, not really into it anymore), also wouldn't mind finding somewhere to do some novice MMA training

 

I hate basketball but I'd play it. I'm like 100% in agreeance with you, looking for more active stuff like this to enjoy and that stuff motivates me to get into more shape so I'd be more interested in working out at home on the days I don't have games to play.

 

Exactly! Not to mention, the way Huntsville is growing, all these teams activities is a great way to networking and broaden your potential future career endeavors.

Id be game for that. Just make sure they know they are getting 2 out of shape guys and one having only Frisbee with the dog experience!

A friend of mine that is/was a power lifter lives up there in Hampton Cove. Took 1st place in his last competition with a 635 lb squat.

I can try to hook you up with him if you want to get back into it.

 

yes we can. there is "baggage claim" that we basically pick someone we want to play with. intended for new players to be with friends and whatnot. so you're my baggage, Allen.

honestly, I don't want to get back into powerlifting. I just want to find other ways to get myself back into shape that aren't demotivating.

Whew getting more and more expensive and we haven't even started. Of course I cant access the register page on that site from here but can get to the home site. I'm leaving work in 10 mins so I will try to do it from my phone. Also, Chapman Elementary sucks and its like 23102 hours away from my house! Dammit!

 

I usually just keep lighter weight, stricter form, and not much rest time. Given I don't have much equipment right now.

If I know I can't put 1 to 1.5 hours aside for a workout and only have 30-45 minutes I'm not going to do squat ranges of 4-6 reps where long breaks are needed, I'm going to go for weight I can rep with good form for 8-12 reps. That way it's easier to recover between sets.

I can't help you on the motivation part of it though..
