Holy Shit!!!!! So far they have taken the river, and that is what really bothers me. Any property along it is bought by them, but they are spreading in every direction to any decent old farm. The problem is they are offering more than any other person around here can offer for the same parcel. Already seeing dramatic changes in game animals around those areas. It used to be prime for whitetail and turkey. I haven't even seen the flock in over a year, but it used to be 100 or more birds! I don't even want to tell you about the whitetail hunting.

Similar issues in my area as well..... Most are not looking for tillable land, typically are buying property with timber, harvest anything worth a nickel and then sell...

Biggest gripe by far is the respect for the property of others... My in-law's have a catching pond at camp, that the local amish emptied it of all the two winters in a row... The second winter, one of them forgot to take the SD card out when he pulled the batteries from one of the trail cameras. They were able to take him to court and get restitution after tracking him down

Quite a difference form PA to NY though.... One of the larger steel Metal Roofing companies in the NY-PA area is run by the Amish in Clymer, NY - neat place - propane lighting, Dewalt miter saw run by a Stihl powerhead, and apparently the "local bishop" says credit is OK, as long as the credit card reader is hidden behind a box on the wall

They definitely seek out properties with Timber. Then they sell storage sheds with the harvested timber. Most of the operations around here run calf barns. They sell them as veal, but I don't get how they can label them true veal. They get to see daylight, walk around outside, etc... They are basically cows that are sold before maturing. There is a hell of an operation though. I would say they could supply the state if not a few with the veal raised within 10 miles of each other. Their economy is simple, metal roofs, calf barns, organic produce, and storage sheds. Every family does one of those 4 things.

Most of the new ones coming here are from new York. I'm not sure if the first few clans were. They definitely pilfer the natural resources and move on. Best analogy I've heard is the comparison to locusts

Veal has many different types. What you're thinking of is probably milk fed veal.
