I dont really like getting into the 3rd gen trash fire threads too often, but slow day at the office.. So I guess Ill ask:

Did you test drive the truck before you bought it? Surely this issue didnt magically appear right after you drove it off the lot.

Then proceed to step 3 in the “Owner’s Warranty Rights Notification” booklet, arbitration by the National Center For Dispute Settlement (NCDS). See page 2 for contact info, and center of booklet for the claim form. It will cost you nothing to file and receive a hearing... Toyota will be bound by the NCDS decision, however you will not be, and may seek resolution by way of small claims court should you remain dissatisfied.

I've been unscientifically tracking complaints. For whatever reason the 4 banger SR's have the fewest complaints. Does not matter if they are 2 wd or 4 wd or auto or manual.

So update. Talked to a Case Manager with Toyota and they are sending down a regional tech guy to look at my truck and to find a fix. I told the lady if they can’t, I want it replaced. Also have a clunking sound with each rotation in the rear end area after going from reverse to drive and cruising slowly. It’s gone once you pick up speed and drive out of it. Got a video of it this time.

Just a thought OP. If the regional tech is of no help, find yourself a great independent tire shop. Explain the vibration problem to the manager. Have him re-balance all the tires/wheels. It's a long shot but MIGHT be a solution for you. It will cost you a few bucks but it's chump change compared to the trade in loss.

Has a vibration at 65+. Guarantee its from tire out of balance from baja'ing down back roads chasing geese and losing some stick on weights.

Ive owned Toyotas all my life, and honestly i'd be more worried if there wasn't a vibration. haha. Guess i'm just used to it ?

I agree that maybe its a tire issue. Be worth a shot to have them balanced and see if it continues. Maybe you lost a weight ??

I’ve tried that already. A mechanic friend just looked under my truck (and didn’t touch anything) just to see if he noticed anything odd or out of place and he noticed the yoke on the back end drive shaft was a 1-2 clicks off in alignment with the other end. He said that might be the problem. So who knows. Now on a separate issue I hear a clunk sound just once on the first rotation after going from reverse to drive and that first rotation forward is the clunk. This all has been a nightmare. I thought Toyota was better than this.

And no I didn’t test drive this one, but I did test drive “a” Tacoma a few days earlier to buying this truck. Didn’t notice a problem like that. Must have been an abnormal Tacoma lol

Here s head scratcher ... I purchased mine through a Toyota dealership that I have a long-standing relationship with . They even let me take it out for the whole afternoon ... I put 45 miles on it . Had 50 at the time of purchase and 4-5 were from the factory/porting.. my issue started around 130 miles.

In my case the test drive , although extensive as I had read about trans shifting issues when researching , revealed nothing out of the ordinary.

I’ve tried that already. A mechanic friend just looked under my truck (and didn’t touch anything) just to see if he noticed anything odd or out of place and he noticed the yoke that connects the two pieces was a few clicks off of alignment. But it that’s the problem then before they replaced it, the other one had to be off to since problem existed prior to that replacement.

I have an almost 2 week old 2019 and no steering wheel vibes, but pretty sure I have the diff howl and I get a lugging feeling when going 25-45ish mph light throttle. Hoping it goes away after the break in period. I’m at about 350 miles right now.

I have a video of the mechanic explaining everything but you can’t load such on here without uploading it to YouTube or such first. Boo.
