A question of lockers vs atrac. Which, there's a dozen messy threads about already.

the truck so nice, i named it twice.
    See Home Page Link
I'll second the wait it out. My 2017 OR was totaled in an accident that wasn't my fault, other guys insurance tried to lowball me for "high miles" when it was at like 30K. So I had my own insurance company handle it and send them all the bills after the fact. Ended up getting a check for $37.5K which is exactly what I paid for the truck. It took a month, a ton of phone calls, and lots of patience.
But now I have an even nicer version of what I lost for the cost of the taxes and registration... Toyota transferred over my extended warranty to the new truck which was great!

If you're going used I'd consider the overall condition/mileage of the truck more important than whether it has ATRAC or not. Obviously the big bonus of looking at non-ORs is that you'll have a bigger selection of manual transmission trucks to choose from.

I don't think you'll go too wrong with either dual ARBs in a Sport/SR5 or then ATRAC/factory locker in an OR. Just remember to factor in the installed price of the ARBs to see if a certain truck pencils out compared to an OR... last time I looked it was about $2k USD/axle (less if you install the switches/compressor/lines yourself.)

Sunroof yes. Wish I could have gotten mine without it, but it was part of the premium/tech package that had other stuff I wanted.
Leather is only available in the Limited IIRC.

edit: USian perspective. Offer may not be available in Canukistan.

Help me out boys, I’m getting tempted by a full size “American” truck.

More features, more power, better mpg, much more space... (something I would use).

    What’s a man to do?

Test drove a couple of 3rd gens, makes me miss my truck...

I came out of an F-150. In fact I owned 7 of them in a row before giving up and going to a Toyota. The last 2 Fords were just in the shop way too much. I also drive a Chevy 3500 at work and although it's a very different animal than the F-150's or my Tacoma, I'll still take the quality of a Toyota product any day of the week. How about trying a Tundra?

Yeah, my Tacoma was so reliable that it’s hard to give that up. Also, fun to wrench on.

Tundra, maybe. The F150 v6 ecoboost seems like a good engine. I’ve driven it a bunch in the Expeditions and man does it scream.

Several guys I know have the 2.7 or 3.5 liter Ecoboost motors in their F-150's. Tons of power. Crap gas mileage unless you feather foot them. And, all of the quality of a Ford. The Ecoboost motors just have waaay too many parts for me. And you know what that means for reliability down the road.

    UPDATE:

I've finally gotten some numbers back from the insurance company. The truck payout is within the range of fair. It's not fantastic, but it could be worse.

The salvage buy-back value they've given me on the truck is $3,200 CAD ($2,400 USD). If I buy the vehicle back I lose out on a tax re-coup payout. So, this would effectively bring my buy-back-salvage cost to $5,950 CAD ($4,400 USD).

I don't know what to do. Parting out seems like a pain in the ass. I might want to repair the truck and either keep it myself, or try and sell it (salvage title will make that harder).

    Any thoughts?

Im extremely curious about that flip back? Go does that work if when they total that. Is that in the estimate, do they let you take that off?

My buddy parted his camaro out and made like 5k after buying it back. He even sold the emblems.

They gave me the option to include it in the deal or not. I said it's mine, and so it wasn't factored into the value of the truck. They would have included its value otherwise I believe.

But, the thought of the FlipPac getting passed along in some auction or something else where it isn't valued was a shitty thought - even if they paid me well for it. This FlipPac deserves better.
