Small work, bigger step today. Installed the passenger side floor tie downs for the cabinetry / fridge slide. Hoping to have some time after work and get the fridge slide skeleton done this week.

 

Worked some more on the interior of the camper. Ran out of 8020 fittings, so cut a bunch of parts cut and made up. The final assembly, minus the panels should go pretty quickly. I am not sure if I like my latches yet.

The reason the fridge is so high up is to leave clearance for the propex exhaust.

 

Did you get those latches on McMaster? Can I get a PN for those and the catch? I’m currently using a slide bolt lock on my cooler slide and it’s just not working out. Thanks!

Worked on the fridge slide more today. I was taking off all day to work on the truck but of course work emergencies happened.

But I have the skeleton done and most of the panels made up. Think I’ll head to Home Depot tomorrow to get the shelve and top for the fridge slide.

Worked some today on installing a renogy 160w flexible solar planet.

I used industrial outdoor extreme Velcro to hold it down. I need to add a small windbreak on the front of the panel.

 

do you plan keeping it there full time or removing it when traveling? your thoughts on the soft panel?

 

Why flexible?

 

I plan on keeping it up there full time. I went with the soft panel due to weight, and it’s really light and also with using the industrial Velcro it mounts pretty low to the roof.

Looking good. Make sure that your Propex exhaust is routed so that it will be away from the vehicle, not under it, and also that it can't get blocked by snow or collect mud. I've seen a couple of guys in the VW camper community set theirs up so that when camping they could connect a section of flexible exhaust tubing to the exhaust and have it dump several feet away from the vehicle. It was an extra safety measure but also so that they could crack windows on both sides and not worry about exhaust smells. It's doubtful that you'd get enough to hurt you but it still smells a bit.

 

My propex exhaust is via a boat exhaust port in the beside behind the passenger side fender. I also picked up a plug for it for everyday to keep mud / snow / dust / bugs out

 

Got an hour to work on the camper today, finished up the fridge portion of the storage. Used a cable chains to guide the power cable in and out. Turned out nicely. I also got another 8020 section installed through the floor. Now I have the measurements needed to start my floor finishing. Which will be vinyl sheet over marine plywood. Also took some updated interior shots for an article.

 

I'm loving your build. Could you post a picture of the rig fully loaded when you go out for a few days? I'd like to see how you store stuff inside.

 

Worked on the flooring today, used some vinyl sheet remenance from Home Depot. The plywood wrapped in the sheet vinyl is near a press in fit.

 

Worked on the downstairs vent and hvac today.

 

Started working on the side bench storage this afternoon. Also added a screen to the propex intake, and got in a blue ridge overland gear camp chef stove bag.
