I have the HF Predator 8750. Mine is several years old, but basically brand new. I start and run it for 20 mins or so every few months. I have drained and refilled the fuel several times.
However, the last time I went to run it, no start. Firing fine and would sputter with starting fluid. Took carb apart. Clean as new, no fuel residue. Long story short, the fuel shutoff solenoid on the bottom of the carb had failed with likely <5hrs run time. The cutoff stops the flow of fuel the second the kill switch is activated.
Good news is you can just take it out, cutoff the plunger, and put it back in the carb. It is not needed to run, but if it fails, no fuel will get into the carb.

Yeah, I tore the control panel apart checking current flow, dis-assembled the card twice, and THEN suspected that solenoid. You can test them with a battery charger after you pull it out.

Edit: I should have explained that "repair" a little more. It is a normally closed plunger shutoff. By cutting the plunger length down, the fuel supply is always open to the jet feeding the engine. When the solenoid is energized it keeps the plunger pulled to the open position.

I assume they put it there to reduce raw fuel reaching the muffler to prevent air pollution and maybe a brief muffler fire/backfire right after you shut it off. That kind of thing doesn't worry me, so I was okay just cutting it off. These shutoffs are becoming more common on small gas engines.

Thanks for that info. Ill be sure to remember it if I ever have that issue.

Little bit of work on it. Adjustable base to level the shed. I will be working on sound reducing, intake/exhaust/heat venting later. But, it fits and is accessable once inside the box. I will hardwire it to the transfer switch and put a couple outlets on the wall.

Edit: I am going to remove the wheel kit and bolt it to the 4x4 supports after I make the sheet metal floor panel. I will have a hole with a funnel under the oil drain for easy servicing. I am going to remove the muffler and make a new exhaust pipe to run outside the box to the muffler which I will mount outside to reduce the heat inside the box.

You have air in and out for cooling, or is it only run with the door open? Gensets put out a lot of heat running.

My 10kw diesel would shut down in the shed until I put an extraction fan on the outflow...plugged into the genset through a barn thermostat so it runs as soon as the unit is running and has warmed up the gen shed.

Yes, I put an exhaust fan in the ceiling of the box with vent on the side under the eave and a 12x18 inlet in the back wall pulling air from inside the shed.
Havent finalized the wiring yet, but will put a small auto battery inside with a switch to the fan and another to the LED light strip I put in the box.
