My Overland Taco

Checked the MPG, it was 95 to 107 degrees so AC was on the whole time with some stop and go and hill climbs fully loaded. 15 to 17 mpg.

 

Wow! I am a street guy, but seeing threads like these makes me regret not getting a 4x4!

 

I'd still like to build a stock FJ w/ a supercharger and other performance parts and go out and smoke the innocents!!!!!

 

thanks for the update! I think im going to go for the 255/85/16s maybe the lighter skinnier tire will have less rolling resistance and better mileage.

Have you noticed any side effects on the VSC. many people running lifts and larger tires are noticing the vsc kicking in during normal driving.

Have you looked into the yellow wire mod yet? TRAC in 4lo...works awesome!

 

Have not had any problems. The stability control is the shitz on any of the Toyotas when off road, but will save you in a bad situation on the street. Kinda a tuff situation to deal with. You can't go wrong with the 255/85/16's.

 

the shitz in a good way? i think the TRAC works really good offroad, not like lockers but better than an 08 and prior sport with LSD in the rear only and way better than open/open. If you do the yellow wire mod it enables TRAC in 4lo.

 

Yea my 4 banger has the LSD, seems to work fine but not like the e-locker and atrac of my fj.

 

Added some lights. Today I went up to Demello and went over a few things that will be changed on the production bumpers.
On the front Demello's production model(front) the bumper will be to the outside of the flares and not as tight to the body in the back. It will be available with no hoop, single hoop, or a three hoop that offers the headlight protection. Here are a few shots of the lights and the area where the bumper will be wider.


The rear will have a few minor changes and I'll post pictures after they are made. Here's a shot of the lights.

Got done with Jason and went over to see Mike and Jeremy of Icon Vehicle Dynamics. Got a great tour of their facility and was very impressed with how all of the shocks and parts are made and it was fun to see the new stuff they're working on!(2011 Ford F250, Dodge trucks). As I was leaving they hooked me up with one of their cool billet shift knobs.

It was a great day and the best part is the truck rides great and is getting alot of thumbs up from people that drive by it.

 

Have to say that that little shift mod sure is cool. Reminds you of what your doing with every shift! Talked to a muffler guy yesterday, still haven't figured which muffler to go with!

I love the magnaflow i have. Not too loud, not ricey at all. good power gain and 2mpg increase. not so loud that it "drones" down the highway. Also not loud enough to scare all wildlife away.

 

After the lift the tail pipe hangs down, I wish that an exhaust co would make a "high tuck" system. I have the AFE on the FJ and it's awsome.

 

mine is custom nothing hangs too low.

 

How bout doing a turn down right after the rear axle that would give you some clearance

 

Nice truck! I just got back from a trip to the High Sierras myself and it was beautiful up there! SO where in the local San Diego mountains do you live? I also live in the local Mountains at 4,100ft! I like what you have done with that little truck! Looks very agressive now!
