I do like the way the Pop&Lock actuator mounts using a supplied bracket. It uses an existing bolt and doesn't require drilling the tailgate or the locking mechanism arm.
It also appears that the bracket places the actuator's action more in line with the locking mechanism.
    http://www.popandlock.net/download/PL8535 Tacoma_Tundra pdf (updated 11-14-18).pdf.c1118077c4f598c3752b0a300580ae70

Chatting with Pop&Lock customer support, they do not sell just the mounting bracket. They do sell replacement actuators, but they are sold to be used with the kit original bracket.

Awaiting KTJO's full kit now....I may experiment with different mounting methods.

I'm so excited for this. Just got back from a trip where knowing I had one on order really made me hate the key lock.

I have watched the same video and their install looks pretty neat and tidy. I like their idea of drilling a hole in the plastic plug the camera wire goes through.

Damn...I was under the impression this was a pop and lock...that's a bummer.

Hopefully someone has (or can take) some good pictures of the Pop&Lock mounting bracket, both the loose part itself and also installed to the tailgate?

Two tiny holes in the tailgate are completely covered by the tailgate cover. And a pop lock branded one is 100 bucks and you have to splice into factory wiring. This kit is 65 with a generic actuator. Katie is providing the plugnplay harness for those who want to spend the money on the pop lock brand.

The whole point of the PnP harness is to be as non intrusive as possible. Defeats the purpose a bit.

you have the option to order the harness for 45 and find the pop lock brand elsewhere. But at about 145-150 two tiny holes is not worth more than double the price to me. Thats why I ordered one and since shes doing something reasonable and quality at a non inflated price I even volunteered to help by writing the install guide.

Judging by the list in post #2, it looks like she still has about 75 to sell.

Would you wrap this wire in split loom or the flex weave type stuff?

Is there a golden “oem” standard when to use split loom or the flex weave or even the non shrinkable tubing (I noticed it around the wires for the headlights I believe, whatever that’s called?)
