Ya it's always a good battle. I love the rivalry. The Geno goal was weird. almost like the shot sorta overpowered the lip on Elliot's trapper and flung out/up. I was actually not sure where it was until saw it go in the net. Oh well, either way, cool game to watch. And that is cool for Simmonds. I would've liked him here, gotta love a power forward type of guy like that.

It was awesome. When was the last time an NHL regular season game had that kind of atmosphere?
-Burning jerseys
-Snakes tossed on the ice
-Fan screaming "Jon you suck!" during post game medium scrum
-Fantastic chants
-Name bar and jersey alterations
-Fans tossing jersey and almost hitting Tavaras in the head

 

I’m sure all of that will really encourage players to sign with the Isles, knowing when you leave they’ll lose their shit lol.

 

Toronto fans acting like this is something new. Fans boo players who choose not to sign with the home team all the time. I thought the atmosphere on the broadcast last night was great.

 

That shit was hilarious last night lol

 

I honestly thought it was embarrassing to the league but I may be wrong .

 

Hmm, I don’t remember that level of vitriol in the last ten years for any other player. Booing sure, but a large contingent of fans actively found ways to get to Tavares that went beyond what I’ve seen in the past. That being said I’m not here to tell paying fans what to do and the real embarrassment was the rest of the Leafs not stepping up their game to help Tavares out. If I was an Islander fan though I’d be a bit concerned about the message they just sent to future high draft picks.
