Custom LED Map and Dome lights

Hi guys. I'm installing my meso maps and I ran into an issue.

I bought the red maps with the new style plug. I traded a member here for a white. That one has the old style plug. (The white connector) that one went in no problem.

The red one with the flat connector doesn't seem to fit within the housing. With it plugged the map doesn't fit.

What am I missing here?

 

Maybe spit on it and stick it back in? j/k

idk, I have the white connectors. That's weird though. Is it in all of the way?

 

Looks like you need to disconnect it at the black part feed the small wires through the hole and reconnect the small two prong connector

Edit: I think he did this so you can replace/ upgrade to future maps without removing the whole console

 

Interesting, wonder if the heat shrink is getting in the way. Looks like it's not all the way in. Mine barley fit as well, but they did fit.

 

Its definitely pushed all the way.
I can bend it slightly so it's kind of wedged in there. The map will fit but bending must loosen the connection because it won't turn on unless the connector is perfectly straight.

 

I was the one that traded with Dryvah. It seems that the twist off base has two little protrusions of plastic at the bottom preventing the new flat connector from seating fully into it. I was able to squeeze all the wiring and connectors into the console. However the flat connector never seemed to securely sit inside of the base. After putting it all together, it does work but I wonder if it is just being held in place because there is no room for the connector to fall back out after the install.

The map lights are beautifully made, this may just be a new wrinkle if the new twist off base of the Tacoma has a different manufacturing detail. If I take it back apart, I'll try to get a picture of the inside of the twist off base.

Contact MESO. Mine did the same. He will send you a new set.

 

Mine is doing the exact same thing it’s like the connector hangs out and therefore you’d have to bend the connector which isn’t true plug and play if I have to alter it which I don’t wanna do. @mesojdm #5702

 

I am guessing he will make contact you to straighten this out

 

I could shove the map light in but it bends it every time I’ve tried it’s the right side that does it only. The left side did just fine.

So I recently switched over to a new bulb adapter. The old ones (white plastic tab with silver pins) sometimes would not make a good contact because the pins would get bent. So I designed a PCB rigid board just like some of the integrated LED lights. This fixed the connection issues but now I realized some of the heat shrink was a little too long(causing it to push against the map light). I have addressed the issue, so if you DO have a light that won’t sit flush, just PM me your order number and I’ll send you out a new bulb adapter. Try and fix one thing and it leads to another pretty soon I’ll have these dialed lol.

The first iteration of the pcb style didn't have heat shrink right? Or did they all?

 

Ok great. And I love the lights I just can’t get them to fit because the adapter is so long. I love the adapter design it looks very neat and very nice. I will send you my order number for those. I ordered them in February.

What do you mean to long? Tuck the extra wire up in the hole? Do you have pics of it?

So would this be the reason why my map lights have been turning off randomly for last month ?

 

It’s not the wire that needs tucking it’s the adapter hitting the actual map light when it’s pressed in place
