Hi everyone, just bought a second hand 2006 automatic 4x4 SR5 (Club-cab) - drives like a new one - really happy after two days!!!
Read with interest the option to change the Garage Door Opener cavity to a temp/compass - that's my first modification - will be asking for where to get the best price from in my next entry...
    Cheers,
    SirGeoff

Welcome to the club from NY:D. If you really want the compass/temp display I know you can can get it from Toyota but its very expensive ($1,100:eek:) holy shit. I work for Toyota as a tech:cool: and I just checked with our parts dept. You might be better off looking for an aftermarket one if you can find one or you can go to a junk yard and try to find one that way, but you have to make sure that your truck was built with wire harness for the display and also built with an ambient temp sensor. I hope this helps:D

    Thanks IMTWSTD really hepfull advice,
I realise the new compass/temp gauge are expensive - but will try to find one from a wreck - I do know that I have the cableharness hanging by the horn infront of the radiator, which apparently is the feed (harness?) to the console, but there is no temp sensor, which hopefully can also be salvaged from a wreck?
Appreciate the advice, and any other cautions you may have before I consider spending the probable $500 for a used one!!!
    Cheers,

    Hi IMTWISTD,
You gave me some sound advice last year about the temp/compass unit for my 2006 Tacoma. Pleased to report I found a used one, including the temp sensor, for $250 - 5 minutes later it was installed and functioning.
Now because you say you're a Toyota Tech, can you help me with the Fog Lights - the truck is wired (plugs hanging by the plastic blanks in the Bumper, and two open plugs behind the Fog Switch Blank on the dash). First challeng is determining which of two plugs in the dash is for the Fog Switch - I'm told it's the white 4 pin inline female plug, and not the green six pin one - is that correct?
Given these answers, is there a simple way to adapt the dash plug to a NON-Toyota switch (Oznium have one with on/off indicator lights, and they want $12.50 versus Toyota asking $92.00!!!!), but their switch has four offset 1/4" prongs - Then comes the Relay (Toyota price $32.00!!!) any ideas where I could get one that fits the one in the Toyota fuse box?
Anything you can offer would be apprecaited...
    Cheers,

If you do a search there's a few threads about the fogs, some that show you exactly how to install them.
