@RDTaco1261 - I switched to a KBVoodoo mid-height rack a few months back, but to answer your question: I wasn't able to open the RTT window that faced the front of the truck. The metal tension rods would make contact with the cab, so I never bothered with trying to open that one window.

RTT's look fantatic on racks, especially if the rack is loaded with Rotopax, shovels, MaxTrax, etc. From a camping practicality standpoint though, it seems like a Topper might be a better option. The RTT then can be on top of the Topper (or cab). There is much more useable space and your stuff is protected from weather and theft. Yeah, it's higher up and stiffening the whole setup is important. But, I wonder why more guys don't go this route, even if it doesn't look as cool.

To get in and out of average sized garages here in CO? My garage at home is only about ~8ft tall and there's no way I could use it with an RTT mounted on top of a capper..

Not sure if directed toward my response; if so, the folded RTT is only 2-3 inches taller than the roof line of the truck on my KBVoodoo rack..

You should either get a habitat / go fast / drifter or hard shell RTT on a rack. Unzipping and rezipping the covers is a huge PITA especially in the rain or when you are being eaten alive by mosquitos.

I’ve got the habitat coming this spring. Setup and pack up takes a minute or two at most, you’ve got a huge amount of interior space and an awning when it’s deployed

Have loved my Tepui setup on my KB Voodoo Bed Bars. Expecting twins now, so if you’re close to Michigan I will be willing to sell hah.

I went with KB Voodoo mid-height rack and CVT Mt. Bachelor RTT. I use it a lot so I just leave it on all the time. I like it a lot better than a ground tent. I bent the rods for the front canopy so I can open the doors and get some air circulating. It gets hot down here in the summer. I agree with all the aforementioned pros and cons plus I get a lot of attention in parking lots. Strangers come up and ask about it and I make new friends. I mounted mine to open towards the rear. I dunno why but it works.

Nice! Looks like you mounted yours over the Toyota tri-fold tonneau. Pretty straightforward to do? While you can't open the tonneau in this config, at least you can lock up the stuff in the bed. I imagine it is more prone to leak with the rack mounts under it.

The monster RTT thread has literally everything you would ever want to know about literally every setup. I cruised through that for months before I started moving on it.
I went with KB Voodoo MAX rack and a Smittybilt Overland tent, as well as the awning and annex. The annex is still in the box, but I've had the awning up for about two months. I got a hellacious deal on my tent package, and I have had no complaints at all with it so far. I added a Zinus memory foam pad and a Teton 0* bag and the bed the most comfortable I've ever been camping, even down into the teens. I went with the 14" rack height so I would have room for stowage on top of my Decked system. Overall height with the RTT stowed is 6'10" with stock suspension. I plan on adding some air bags to counter the slightly less than 400 pounds that I added, and I'll be adding the Cali Raised bed stiffeners soon.
RTTs are great to get She Who Must Be Obeyed or my teenage daughter to agree to go camping, and it also lets me leave work Friday afternoon and get wherever I'm going to camp, even in the dark, and set up a place to sleep without having to worry about what's on the ground and clearing everything out of the way.

Yeah, KB Voodoo makes brackets designed to work with the cover. It might leak a little but it never rains in my neck of the woods so I really can't say. I'm retired and just take off for the mountains whenever the mood hits me so I wanted the cover so I can keep my gear in there ready to go.

Awesome set up! How are you liking those brackets? I just purchased RTT and looking for a rack or brackets that will work with the cover. Having a 10k miles road trip soon...So want to sort of keep my stuff dry and secure.

They work fine. I've been using them about a year and a half with no problem.

Haven’t really thought of it. Would have to look and see what others are getting.

For me, I don't trust a fiberglass shell to hold the weight of a family and rtt and aluminum shells are $$$
