Find one in a junk yard or on ebay...the dealer is about $3500 overpriced (maybe more).

I certainly hope not.... he may need the truck back up asap, but still needs to call around.... I think even 4 wheel auto parts could do it cheaper.... not saying he should go there, but get a quote anyway.

Unknown lift, maybe 2" I don't know how to ID it, and would rather set it back to stock.
Follow my lead, and do as I do:

Everyone here feels for you of course. It's unfortunate that things like this happen, but they do. But, it seems criminal that the cost is so amazingly steep on this. It's not rocket surgery, it doesn't really require any special tools or incredibly advanced skills. The fortunate thing is the Toyota axle has a true "third member" and is replaceable as a unit. You just have to remove wheels, brakes, rear brake lines at the wheel cylinders, backing plates, unbolt and pull axle shafts, remove 3rd member, replace w new/reman. unit, and put it all back together, then bleed brakes.
Of course, it appears your truck is in the shop now, and it would be pretty cumbersome to get it away from them in a fashion it could be towed to your "shop" so you could do this work. Maybe ask them to itemize the $4500, see if you can somehow get a sympathy discount or something. $4500??!!, that's the real WTF in this post.

It is still in the shop. The parts are there. I appreciate the advise but I am going to take the painful but easy route and let them do it.

I'm not trying to be a dick but I'm fairly certain your wife is lying to you and you're believing it.

Shit doesn't just blow up to that damage by not moving fast. She was flooring it and then put it in drive before letting the wheels even stop.

For fuck sakes I've seen videos of guys beating on shit and it breaks and even those aren't as bad as this.
