That's really not bad at all for the size of it. The Super Duty trucks look badass enough already that I really won't bother with anything besides tint.

I made a comparison sheet today, and everything is pointing towards the F-250 with the exception of fuel economy and luxury crap. What mods have you done so far?

So far I've done the following:
    Remote Start (12 volt solutions)
    Leather wrapped steering wheel (OEM)
Bed Mat (Product by Bed Rug but more durable and not an actual rug, just lines the bottom of the bed)
    Rancho 9000 shocks all around
Lariat 20" wheels and Michelin tires - 275/65R20
Replaced the front valance with one from a 2wd model, the 2wd model is only 2" tall vs the almost 6" piece of plastic that comes on the 4wd version
    Diamondback Bed Cover
Headlight Solutions LED conversion for the headlights
Lettering for the stamped SUPER DUTY on both the hood and tailgate. I found a place that makes nice 3D decals to fill in the lettering. I bought black ones so they are subtle, but do make it stand out a little more.
    Tinted the front windows
Husky all weather mats front and back
Raptor style LEDs for the grille (not installed yet)
    Backup Sensors (not installed yet)
Rigid Industries hyperspots (waiting to be installed behind the grille, they came off my F150)

I think that's it. I'm going to replace the steering damper soon also. The Motorcraft one is just like the stock shocks, garbage. I'm going to replace it likely with the one from Fox. I've also been looking into adding the factory bed lighting and switch. Haven't finished chasing that down yet and the lights up at the 3rd brake light actually do a decent job lighting up the bed.

And it also has a multi-displacement system which is just a fancy word for cylinder deactivation. It's a strong motor but has the same inherent issues with cylinder deactivation that Chevy does.

That's the same remote start I was looking at, in case I do get one.

I thought the bed lighting and upfitter switches were standard?

No, neither one is standard, they are options. Mine does not have either of those. The upfitter switches wasn't a big selling point for me, I wire in my own stuff anyways. They come with standard lights for the bed up at the 3rd brake light and it's switched inside the cab. The lights inside the bed are optional.

Gotcha, I was gonna take a look at this one: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/760462707/overview/

There's a whole bunch in my relative area with under 30,000 miles, that could probably be had for $35k

That is basically the twin to mine, or to what mine used to look like. If you're aggressive, you might be able to get them down a little on the price. I'd definitely test drive it and make sure you get it down a bumpy road (and don't let the dealership drop all the tires to 30 PSI either). See if you like how it drives and handles. The long wheel base does make for a stable ride.

Depends on why you want/need one... For my specific needs/use, a Tacoma sounds pretty horrible so to each their own.

Well you buy and f250 for the badass appeal that it has. If you want a work truck you buy an f350. You get a gas edition instead of a diesel and it just loses its coolness. I certainly didnt have an f250 for work, I had it because it was bad ass and it seemed like the ultimate offroad vehicle when I didnt know much about trucks. Then you start dishing out $240 a week in diesel and you realize you need something smaller. You still want offroad capabilities and the reliability you thought you were getting when you bought a ford, and you end up here on tacoma world buying all sorts of shit you didnt know you needed.

    Well.

Diesel is more expensive, and maintenance gets expensive fast on diesels. You're still getting a 6.2 V8, it's just in a bigger truck than an F-150 that isn't an F-350. You don't need to have an F-350 to have a work truck. I'm pretty sure a Powerstroke F-250 is heavier than a gas F-250 as well, so that invalidated the off road thing.

My Tacoma doesn't work for me because it's tiny and not very capable as far as payload goes.

So yeah... If you're buying a 3/4 ton just because, you may end up regretting it, especially if you have efficiency in mind. You buy it because you actually need it to work and tow or, you buy it because you love the truck but you know what the downfalls of owning one are. If you buy one just because you think they're cool and don't do you're due diligence about what you're actually getting into, then you sort of deserve what comes next.

I looked really hard at a diesel when I bought mine and ultimately decided it wasn't for me. There's about a $8k premium to upgrade to the diesel engine in just about any flavor (Cummins, Powerstroke or Duramax), you can buy a LOT of gas for that kind of money. They also have a bunch of emissions crap that comes with the new diesels now, they're not the dumb power plants they used to be, they are very complex. The components are also difficult to replace should you have a problem and very VERY expensive. Unless you tow all day, every day, diesel doesn't make financial sense. The gas models have come a long way from the days when Ford tried to run the 5.4 Triton in the F250. The new 6.2 is a good engine.
