I have the tracks on top of my shell as well, and want to put my prinsu back up there. I was looking at it and it looks like it takes some kind of sliding square nut and bolt combination, but I couldn’t find specific guidance on the ARE website. I just need to bolt my prinsu up there but I don’t know which hardware to make it lock onto the tracks.

I may just go to the hardware store and walk in and out a few times

Here you go. They are interchangeable, so either nut will fit in your tracks. They are even the same bolt/thread size. The Thule version will install into your tracks without removing the end caps, which is sometimes an advantage.

I really dislike the factory Thule nuts that are in the second link. They’re a bitch to tighten and don’t grab very much of the rails that they’re mounting to. Plus, $3 a piece is absurd (you need 8 of the so $25 plus shipping for 8 nuts).
Those Yakima nuts look like they’ll grab a lot more of the rail, even though you have to slide them in after taking the endcap off.
Has it been confirmed that those Yakima nuts will work with the Thule rails?
    Thanks!

I used the dome type bolts, they fit in the tracks and have a little square notch on them. I think they are used for decking and such.

Have 1 full set if needed. 10 bucks for the set. You can remove the nuts use them how you like.

ARE use Yakima tracks but Thule equipment fits just fine.

They look just like the ones off my Thule rails so they must be fully interchangeable.

    Just the basics
Those are the Thule nuts? They work in Yakima Tracks? I've read they do but never pulled the trigger.

Carriage bolts are used as a finish bolt where the hex machine bolt/washer is either considered unattractive or sticks out enough to scatch/scrape. The square neck prevents the rounded head from turning while being tightened in either wood or some types of gate hardware that have matching punched square holes.

If you’re going to put something heavy up there then I’d recommend a full slot nut that slides in from the end rather than those Thule nuts that drop in from above and twist to engage. You only get the narrow width of those drop-ins to engage the tracks vs at least twice the area for full slot nuts. The drop-ins are convenient since they allow preassembly but aren’t as secure.
