Alignment, Caster, Clearance, and Driving Report with Light Racing UCAs

Anyone know if this is normal? (No alignment specs were given so bare with me) driver tire is almost an inch closer to cab mount and fender (rubs for days on lower driver fender. I want to get proper alignment with specs before i cut more than i have to make it drivable)

Here’s a few pics: wheel is straight & in same position for both pics

Driver: 12oz rebull can is crushed a bit. After i have made a few cuts to plastic and cut some metal away

Passenger: i can fit the can plus a finger. No cutting whatsoever


Drives straight as an arrow: just not sure they gave me proper caster 3-4

 

What size tires you got there?

 

295/70/17 on a -38

 

Having the same issue on 315/75/16

Making left turns proves to be difficult lol.. i can go right with flex no problem..

 

Still trying to get it dialed in, going through the threads and forums

 

Well good luck sir!! Let me know what you find out!! i know you are going to have to cut more than me.. wheel and offset, as you know, will make a difference in the chopping.

 

Thanks boss, appreciate it. If I cut anymore, I may just relocate the whole damn thing, or get some spacers since I’m on 4” BS. Will definitely keep the thread updated when I get it dialed in

 

Wow that’s aggressive!! I have to regrind and repaint mine.. sloppy job i had done but i clear the body mount (haven’t flexed driver side yet) i think we’ve hijacked this thread a bit.. so to be more on topic.. what’s your caster at?? Both sides..

Set more caster in the upper ball joint then push the LCAs forward. Should make more room

 

@steveo27 appreciate the feedback boss, hopefully i can get after it this weekend with the weather coming this way

 

In the last page or 4 I started with the same issue. I was on 265s and was able to get the one side to rub because the tire was pushed so far back.

Redid the alignment and achieved a ton more clearance plus was able to get both wheels/tires to sit in the same location side to side.

I have to second @steveo27. From what I’ve read 3-4 is ideal.. but it’s gunna rub more upfront.. my passenger wheel rubs a bunch on the forward liners but doesn’t rub on the cab mount at all.. i like the idea of the wheels sitting evenly in the wells..

 

Rub a dub dub.. took it to another shop for an alignment.. they did nothing other than tell me my tires were too big.. seemed utterly clueless when i told them to push out my caster from LCA and adjust UCA for caster/camber.. but at least i got them to print out my specs.. need more caster.. Now I’m driving more than an hour away to a shop that has actually worked with SPCs before on Wednesday.. and have them redo my CMC.. will report back

 

Set the LCAs yourself to push them as far forward as possible. Set the ball joints to position E then go get it aligned.

This will give you a ton of clearance. And still get you almost 4* of caster. The won’t have to touch the UCA ball joint other than to set the camber. They’ll be able to tweak your caster with the alignment cams.
