Ironically you bought a battery made by the same company lol. Johnson Controls makes Everstart as well as OEM toyota batteries.

But you got an AGM so hopefully have a different experience, although I'm 3 years and 45k miles on my oem battery and its spent a good amount of time in below 0 weather and over 110, hasn't skipped a beat so they're not all crap

I wouldn't be so quick to blame the batter either, you put in some aftermarket stuff that clearly messed with your electrical/canbus system... when you do something that causes electrical problems its not uncommon for the battery to be a victim.

 

Agreed. The thing I don't like about OEM is the majority or not maintenance-free so it's very easy for the acid to boil out of the top caps. It was already leaking acid the lights did not cause that. Doing more research I had the lights hooked up wrong. It would have been nice if they would have sent something to show the correct way but it is what it is.

 

Thanks to those that have commented in this thread. For some reason I bought some led bulbs to replace my tail light bulbs, I hadn't seen the posts about problems with led tail lights. Then truck wouldn't start? Battery seemed to be bad anyway so replaced battery. Had to do the 15 second hold thing to start truck, then wouldn't shift? Finally ready this thread, went and bought some new tail light bulbs and some new fuses, threw led lights away and replaced "stop" fuse, everything back to normal. Thanks TW.
