    Different strokes for different folks. "barely" smaller is all subjective. But 25%(for such a smaller object) is pretty darn good IMO.
    Yes, that is due impart by removing the access key and like I mentioned before..this may not be for everyone. It will be up to the end user if they want to make that sacrifice. Most of my designs are based upon MY personal preference and what I have experienced..which then gets taken into consideration for my designs. Guaranteed I will use the bottle opener more than the key, so it's a functional trade off for me.
    Other pluses are custom color matched housings, bottle opener, new raised impression buttons, and a more rugged look and feel.
    Here's a outline I traced to show the footprints

    Planing on an "inferno" type color!
    I don't think this would benefit anyone. We are limited to the PCB size, so even with deleting the button the overall size would not change. You would just be loosing something in return for nothing.

    Messing around with some variation samples to get an idea of what colors I'll be making.
