I have been procrastinating on it for years and my wife said get it now. She was tired of seeing me working off the floor.

That'll make life a lot easier. Just think, no more getting up and down and up and down and up and down for one more tool or the correct size socket, or to hook up a light so you can see. That's going to be so awesome. Pretty much the ultimate upgrade for any shop.

They got smaller ones, I just upgraded so I could get my 1 ton trucks on it also. Bet you could get by with the 8000lb for $1699

8k is plenty safe for anything I'd be working on.

I found some 1/16th steel at Lowe's in the plumbing isle. I got two of them and a 1/16th 6x6 rubber. I'm going to use a 4" hole saw, metal/metal sealant, and a few bolts to basically sandwich the shift boot to and between the tub. I'm thinking the bottom will be permanently sealed and resistant to the elements but the top will be removable to access the boot and the top of the case. I'll put some pics up in a few for a visual.

What do you guys think about this?

From left to right, bottom of the truck to the shift knob.

Transfer case, shift boot, plate, rubber gasket trimmed to fit, silicone and metal/metal sealant between, body tub.

    2E1D53D3-9E60-467B-9BEA-ACC0DD9A6BD6.jpg

I'll add the metal/metal sealant between the plate and the tub and then give it a layer of flex seal from the bottom. Hey, it actually works pretty damn good.

I believe a 4" hole saw in just the right place should be sufficient for the tcase shifter and it'll give me a half inch on either side of the plate to effectively seal it up.

I'll have to play with the boot some to see exactly how and where I want to fit it. That's subject to change for now.

Then it'll be silicone sealant between the rubber seal (trimmed to fit) and the body tub, and around the boot from above. Then rubber boot and then top plate. I might do a strip of silicone sealant between the top plate and the tub as well for extra measure. I'd like to tack weld some bolts into the existing holes in the bottom plate and then punch a few extra holes in the tub so I can bolt the top plate to the bottom plate from above, pinching everything firmly between.

Yeah that's been tricky. Trying to play it all out in my head going off of other people's installs.

I think it looks like a solid plan as well. Im guessing you have to modify a little more since you're doing twin sticks? I am trying to track down a boot for 6spd FJ for mine right now, but mine will be pretty straight forward with only one additional shifter. I had my shifter out earlier today and it looks like the cutting of the trans tunnel should be pretty minimal. I do like your idea to seal it up

Any idea how much clearance (if any) there is between the shifter plate and the bottom of the trans tunnel once the case is installed on the truck? like do we need to cut the floor before ever getting it into place?

I really don't think it'll be too different. I'll just have an extra stick coming up. Really looking forward to the heating and bending to be honest.

You looking for the trans boot? That will look really nice.

    Much appreciated :D :hattip:
