    Hi Everyone,

I've got a semi older Leer 100XQ (Came with the Tacoma in 2008) and just recently it started to unlock itself which I think is caused by the vibrations when I drive the truck around town and what not.

I can literally hit the back of the 100XQ near the twist cap and it will jiggle loose and unlock itself. I noticed that the (I'm not sure of the term here) sliding bracket which sets the lock is very very easily slidable and moves with ease. I guess my questions would be

    1) Just buy a new lock entirely?
    2) Is there something specific I need to fix on the lock itself to keep it from unlocking?

    Any feedback would be great.

    Thank you!

Do you mean the lock unlocks, or the latches release?

Replace the lock and cables. I did mine for about $30, good as new. Clean and lubricate the latches as well.

It just unlocks the twist cap. The actual latches will not unlock and it wont actually open the glass door. But anyone (and someone already did >_<) could just twist the cap and the latches would release.

    Does that make sense?

Did you find parts from local dealer?

I did. I just googled Leer dealer near me and called the closest. They had the parts on hand. Brand new latch, cables, and keys. Install is stupid easy but they will do it for you if you're unsure. Usually for free if you buy from them.

I used some sand paper, a wire brush, and a flap wheel on a Dremel tool to clean up the latches. I added a light coat of WD40 as well. Added a drop of oil into the key hole and it turns like butter.

You can get a lock and cable kit on ebay for about $40 if not available locally.
