I think it's absolutely crazy that 18's have these problems especially at the price point. My 4Runner TRD Pro, 20k miles on it...not a single problem so far. I had a 15 T4R TRD Pro as well and not a single problem on that one either.

I wonder if it's the lack of QC in that Mexican factory where people give zero fucks about their work vs Japan factories where people have massive pride in their work.

Hold up everyone in this thread, your truck is not shaking you’re imagining it because bludweiaer’s had no problems.
    Phew glad that’s over.

I'm 95% sure I have resolved my rumble strip issue. I took it out to a desolate road and went from 60-10 mph as fast as possible without locking up the brakes. ABS shouldn't quite kick in , it should be uncomfortable as the seat belt pulls hard with the hard breaking. If it wouldn't spill a full drink you aren't braking fast enough.

5-6 cycles of 45-10 followed by 5-6 cycles of 65-10 has gotten rid of my rumble feeling when braking casually. I've seated disc brakes before but didn't know if this would work for drums or not. In my case it seems to have cleared up the issue.

Toyota says to avoid heavy breaking and acceleration for the first 1000, yeah ....okay. While I was out there I decided to open it up as well since disregarding the break-in advice and have to say the 3.5 is not a slouch with the current ECM programming for the 2019's.

I didn't cancel my Wednesday appointment yet in case the issue returns before then, but it's looking good.

Edit: It only helped the issue temporarily , I eventually had to take the truck in for turning of rotors and drums. That resolved most of the chugging feeling braking but not all.

I had same issue, mine would shake/shutter when braking but only at the 29\30mph point. Finally took it in at 8,000 miles and service department confirmed issue. They found “rear bearings out of round vibration coming from read drums”. They replaced rear bearings and drums and everything has been perfect since.

Have you guys looked into the pinion angle issue. My truck had the rumble strip issue since new. 5-20 mph. When I lifted it got a little worse. I put 3 degree shims between the axle and the leaf spring and it’s smoother than ever. The dealer had previously turned the rear drums without any change. There is a TSB on the shim thing and a lot of info if you do some searching.

When you do your brakes next time you can get upgraded rotors for less than $100. That’s what I did and they stop surprisingly well with the added armor and accessories I have.

While your at it get rid of the crap DOT-3 fluid and do DOT-4, it has 100 degree higher boiling point and seems to stop with better pressure

That is likely the driver CV needle bearing that needs to be replaced with the ECGS clamshell bushing. Very common (i had it too) all gone now

Had the axle replacement, bearings, and seals replaced several weeks ago and have put 500 or so miles on it since. The problem seems to be completely gone. I am always listening/feeling for it when braking and so far so good. Occasionally think I may feel it a bit but seems it is just the stiff sport suspension reacting to the road surface. Without a doubt a marked overall difference and the truck is finally enjoyable to drive. Hats off to the service manager who was very helpful throughout the process. Work was done at Fairfield Toyota, Muncy PA.

I am having this issue at 2k miles on my 2018 TRD Pro. Took it to the dealer and they initially said bad U-Joint. They replaced it and now have told me it had the wrong style driveshaft installed from the factory which completely baffles me. They are going to install a new driveshaft so hopefully that fixes the rumble strip issue.

4Runner Trail wheels and Toyo Open Country ATII tires 265-70-17. Cosmetic stuff like Pro grille and OffRoad black bumper trim, vinyl delete on side, added hood graphic, OEM tube steps.
I'll embark on this journey at the 5K service. I've already called TMS to alert them to the fact that I have a shudder/vibration on deceleration through the 20mph range that can sometimes be felt even without brake application. I feel it's driveline related but not necessarily axles or prop shaft. Almost feels like torque converter shudder to me.

I'm also going to ask about the high frequency buzzing vibration under load that you can feel in the steering wheel and through the accelerator pedal between 1800-2200 rpm, although I'm pretty confident I'll get the "they all do it, so it must be normal" response again. We'll see.

Took mine in last Monday after they ordered parts to fix (TSB-18 axle flange tolerance), it was supposed to take 1 day to repair. Well I am on day 9 of the truck at the dealer and they can't seem to find a fix. (TRD OR differential won't accept the TSB-18 axle fix, different parts). The leaf spring replacement won't work due to that it is a manual transmission per TSB for that one.

I'm pretty pissed at this point. I hopefully will be finding out today what exactly they have tried. Mon/Tues night I got calls about "Ordering some more parts" but they haven't been specific on what they're trying.

If they can't find a fix I will be phoning it in to corporate. If they need to replace the whole f*cking rear end, so be it.

It's a damn washboard in mine, can't be good on other parts + $40k or any new vehicle it is unacceptable.

The dealership replaced a U-Joint, which did not fix the problem. It is worse right around 22-23 mph. Gonna take it back and have them look at the rear drums next time. This is getting frustrating.

Has anyone found a solution for this problem? My truck is shuddering / vibrationing (rumble strip) from the rear when coming to a stop between 25-15 MPH seems to happen immediately after the transmission downshifts into 2nd gear and again (worse) when it goes into 1st gear which is sometimes followed by a pronounced clunk almost like the truck isn’t downshifting soon enough so it buck forward, it will happen with or without brake application so really not thinking it’s brakes, some of it maybe (a minuscule amount) but id think I would feel it through the pedal, can coast to a stop, same end result, put it in neutral, it goes away, seems to be a bit less noticeable with a fuel tank of gas or weight in the bed.

I opened a case with Toyota Corporate, supposed to do another test drive with the master tech at a different dealership to show them how to duplicate the issue thus I will be driving I would think.

So far dealers have refused every TSB I’ve brought to them, I’ve even offered to pay for one of them because I just want to be able to enjoy the truck but I can’t with this ridiculous issue that makes me sick to my stomach every time I drive it.

And honestly I think that when these guys test drive our trucks they’re not paying attention to anything, last time I picked mine up a the stealership they had the radio and ac blasting with the windows cracked open, like seriously how are you going to duplicate a problem with every distraction you can possibly create.
