Everyone loves the ST Maxx. I still love my DC Extreme Countries for a full MT.

I'm tempted to try the Toyos next set though, but they're so fuckin heavy.

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
 $186 for 4 tires! That's a one hell of a deal, nice job!

Agreed. I have the ST Maxx right now and they are great so far. I just about went with the DCs'. Both were on my list since I wanted M+S rated for the winter tire laws here, but the ST Maxx was on sale at the time. I also like the option of studding them, not that I went that way. Didn't need to.
The Toyos are amazing 75% of the time just my experience with muds is that they suck in snow, particularly those ones. I've had them. They do wear like steel though which is a bonus.
I'd love some real life feedback on the DCs' in snow. Make me maybe regret my choice since they look bad ass.

I'm sure this is buried deep in this thread but I've read several different threads and cant find the exact answer I'm looking for. Don't beat me up to bad with this, I'm committing several sins here.

Currently have a 2010 DCLB with a spacer lift, running 285/70/17 with slight rub at full lock only in reverse. With my stock wheels I did not rub at all, which I did have wheel spacers. Currently have Walker Evans Racing wheels 17 x 8.5 with 4.80 backspacing and 1mm offset. Looking at moving to a taller skinny tire 255/80/17, has anyone had any experience putting 255/80/17 or 255/85/16 (same size other than rim size) on a truck with a spacer lift with aftermarket wheels?

Just something to consider, your 8.5" rim width is going to put you above the max recommended for most/all 255s (6.5-8").

From what I can gather majority will fit on wheels ranging from 6.5-9in.

Most tire manufacturers spec 8" as max. I have mine in 8" wheels and there's not much wheel protection from the tire sidewall.

2019 TRD OR here. Just put on BFG KM2 255/85 R16 yesterday. Hard to find the BFG KM2 in this size now especially 5, but Discount tires located them and they shipped from 3 different locations. BFG web page states 8" rim width as max.

As another data point; mine are mounted on SCS F5 rims 8" wide with 4.5" BS. As others have stated my truck required bending the tabs back to get the spare to fit in the stock location under the bed, then it fit fine.

Haven't been off road yet but got minimal rub once on plastic trim, drivers front but it hasn't happened again even at full lock. I'm still on stock suspension, 2" OME lift going on shortly and think that will be enough to eliminate it.

I've run this size tire for years on 7" rims. Aired down there was enough tire bulge to protect the rim edge from rocks. I aired these down to check and even on an 8" rim I think they will be fine.

My rims are rock rashed to hell. I don't really care, but there is not a lot of protection on a 16x8.

more photos please!! looking to go with these tires on my 2018. just trying to justify the fact that they're $almost $50 more per tire than the coopers... I have ran both the toyo mt's and the st maxx's before on a Jeep and they were both awesome, but i want max height/clearance so toyo is where I'm leaning

The SCS F5's are pretty deep dished so I think they will be ok for the most part. Outer rim edges, well I guess it depends on how much you air down, but agree with an 8" rim there is less tire bulge than with a skinnier rim.

Just a quick update since I put on the 255/85 BFG KM2's. Taco OME HD.jpg OME 866's, HD Dakar rear leafs, SPC UCA's and HS off road 3 degree shims installed. Alignment all in the green, drives smooth as butta and no more rubbing. Very happy with this.

Thanks. I'm really surprised by the overall quality of the ride, thought it would be stiff especially with the truck unloaded, but I think its fine. Went with HD Dakars in the rear because I've got a Vagabond Drifter wedge camper shell on order. Tires at 33F/34R PSI.

:jellydance: you need to post pics of that vagabond when you pick it up!

I have been running KM2s in this size for 3 years. I balanced them before I mounted them every season. I loved them. I do recommend that you balance them regularly.
