Cross posting what I learned today.

PSA: If you’re going to be running any sort of shock relocate, get the poly bushings if you keep stock shackles.

This may not be news to all, but I was blown away how much stock bushings limit droop. I jacked my truck up, unbolted the lower shock mounts and let it droop out. It was right inline with the b110 at full droop, just like my friend aith the same leafs and stock rear hangers. I was really disappointed I didn’t get the extra droop like advertised.

Then I noticed my shackle angle (this is full droop)

    3473C7D3-FE0F-49FD-AF3C-7F11A1BF0065.jpg

Those bastards should be horizontal. So I loosened the bolt holding the shackle to the hanger. Drooped all the way out to horizontal, which lowered tires another 4” or so. I was so damn happy.

Again, this may not be news to all but I wanted to share.

Obviously all over my head, but it's still way cool, and helps me learn.

So now the leafs are functioning correctly? What does that mean for up travel?

It just means I’ll have a full range of motion!

The bushing in the shackle (that part on the back that pivots) was binding up. It’s OEM and the OEM bushing isn’t designed for that large of a range of motion. That’s why loosening the bolt “fixed” it.

The real fix is to replace them with polyurethane bushings (like what’s in our JBA) so they don’t bind. I have some ready to go in.

The only people to really benefit from it would be those that relocate the rear shock and have a bunch of extra travel over stock. You wouldn’t benefit any, but nothing bad would come of it.

Hey Randall @EatSleepTacos , if you don't mind, I'm inviting a sorta new guy over to ask some questions about trail suspension improvements. @emmett is his forum name.
