    Pretty sure bump steer is a solid axle issue

    Bump steer can be on any suspension system. It happens when the tie-rods are going at a different arc as the rest of the suspension components.

    I’ve been talking about this for weeks now! I have the skills to tub, and I haven’t regeared yet. Could go 4.88 right from the start. And 37s (at least in stt pro) cost as much as 35s

    I just need access to a welder to do the tub. That is my biggest hang up. I am being indecisive with the gears though. Sacrifice some on road manner with 5.29s and gain some more torque multiplication or 4.88s for better on road manners.

    That’s the beauty of a manual. Apparently they’re overall geared lower than autos so the consensus seems to be 4.56 for 35s, so 4.88 seems like a logical choice for 37s. No way in hell I’d go 5.29s for me and my truck.

    I'm in the same decision making process... 5.29s enable the eventual 40s though. But 40s on 4.88s might not be that bad. Probably better than my 35s on 3.73s right now...

    If you want to drive across the continent you can use my welder and we can both tub at the same time haha

    Right. I would get a heavier flywheel on yours and probably an upgraded disc and pressure plate. That would help with not slipping and engagement on some obstacles. Running the #s 4.88s would be good at hwy speeds with 37s and an auto as far as revs. But with the added weight and everything from the wheel and tire assembly 5.29s would help with getting them moving easier just suffer at hwy speeds I would be stuck to around 60-65 to get somewhat decent fuel mileage.

    I am already driving 4.5 hrs to do my 63 swap so why not :rofl:
    My biggest gripe is not having a space to work on anything anymore. Had to sell my house and move to an apartment for personal reasons.

    I'm doing my 63 swap soon as well! So pumped.

    Says it's only 44 hours and just under 5000km from Cloverdale, BC to Burlington, NC! Might as well!

    I'm fortunate to have a shop though for sure.

    Out of curiosity, rather than regurgitating info I looked up the gears for the manual vs auto. RA60F (manual) vs A750F (auto)

    First gear is decently lower

    Yeah that manual has a killer gear set in it. Is the last set of #s for the T-case outputs? Yeah if you went 5.29s you'd be screaming down the Hwy since you have a shorter OD than the autos which lends itself better for them.

    No, that’s reverse. Notice how our 1st gear is lower than reverse. That’s why reverse on our truck blows donkey dick. Backing up with any sort of load smokes the clutch.

    Yeah so if I were you I'd look into something like what @Trident904 did for his clutch and upgrade to a heavier flywheel and such. That seems to be what a lot of manual guys do. I am not up to snuff on manuals and wheeling all my manual experience comes from racing and street which seems to be the opposite of what ya'll want.

    Side track, you seen the 2lo module? Allows you to go into low range gearing while remaining in 2wd.

    Yea but I thought our suspension is designed for everything to travel in the same arc. I doubt Toyota would produce a vehicle that allows bumpsteer.
