um, no. You can use 4H on mixed surfaces fine. I even leave it on when turning if the turning lanes are gummed up with snow (usually shortly after a snowfall). You won't actually bind unless you have very good traction or are turning in extremely tight angles.

4WD is one of the biggest reasons to have have a gas-guzzling pickup truck, use it.

I wouldnt mind the option of AWD like the 100 and 200 series LC and 4runner. Just my 2 cents.

So what if I have bald tires, then can I drive around in 4x4? :poking:

I switch to 4wd in November and back to 2wd in May. Have in every truck I've ever owned.

On the odd occasion that I'm on the highway in the winter, I'll use 2wd if the roads are bare.

Is that the county? My next guess would be in the Buffalo area.

Beats having the sales guy peeling the locker sticker off the driver door, when I took delivery. Really ticked me off

nada....maybe a license plate one day & BA bumpers
the 4wd system in tacoma's (even the 3rd gen) are dated....there should be four drive train selections instead of three
we get 2wd, 4wdhi, 4wdlo but there should also be a 4th setting for '4wd auto'
where the computer switches on 4wd when it senses slipping or loss of traction

that would be the best of both worlds

Not only is it fine (as long as your are moving in a straight line) but if it's been a few months and you haven't put your truck into the 4x4 settings then it's a good idea to do so in an empty parking lot somewhere.

You can even do it without bald tires.

Thinking tires have to continually slip to use 4x4 is ridiculous. Sharp turns, overly fast all makes sense but the rest is a bit much for 4hi applications.
