u guys seem like a good crowd to ask even if its off topic of the thread

i bottomed out my taco going 30 in a 40 up in the white mountains yesterday... those damn frost heaves are awful. fairly loaded truck but nothing crazy. i was wondering what the best route would be if i wanted to beef it up a little. id like to do a 3"(ish) lift anyways but im also very tight on cash because im in high school. what would be the best route to go if im on a budget, but want to beef it up a little?

Maybe start with a TRD Pro skid plate someone is taking off their truck.

Or follow the B/S/T threads.

 

how much more would that cover than the offroad one on there already? i didnt bottom out like high centering it, i mean i bottomed out the suspension.

 

Oh. That's different. Nothing inexpensive will protect you at those speeds. Maybe replacing the bump stops will just add some protection?

But like you said initially, this isn't the place to get into lengthy discussions about that.

Maybe someone with more experience can interject.

A budget fix would be a set of timbren bump stops.
Much better than stock and will soak up the whoops quite a bit better that the silly stock rubber your truck came with.

FWIW I’ve been running the same set of timbren numbs for at least 5 years now...

 

how long do they usually last? also, do you have a link to see how much they cost? i tried looking it up but i know nothing about suspension i have no idea where to start.
