Been playing with garage design in my head.
But don't want to give the tax man anything extra to tax.
But want more vehicles garaged more easily.


I've a 16x22 cinderblock garage. If it's empty I can fit two vehicles inside if they are small & I'm very careful. Expect the Pius & Taco would fit. But I've got stuff, so....
Toying with putting the door on the side of the garage. But would want to lift the roof then. There is a sill plate atop the walls that is bolted down & the roof is nailed to the sill plate. Thinking unbolt sill plate, add a couple rows of blocks that would = 1 more garage door panel on the end & = full door height on the side. Metal L plate across new opening to prevent sill plate from sagging w/ time. Would have a single door facing street same as ever, would have a double door on the side for easy in/out of two vehicles. Might have to do a bump out for the side door/might not, 16' just fits most cars.
Extra height would give me room to hang Taco cap & RTT, so easy on/off. Tall end door would fit Modern SUV's (resale).
Tax man doesn't look at height so long as no 2nd story. If the footprint doesn't change I could argue it's still the same 1 car garage.

Dunno, anyone have any experience raising a roof or adding to a cinderblock structure?
Anybody know a guy who's cement lasts longer than 10 years?

 

Kinda lame "work out" this morning during pickup soccer.

In some towns an addition added using polls for the sides and no floor is considered a barn and has little to no taxes. .

Looking at the pic in your post it might work in your favor.

Think of the barns you may have seen dirt floor to start , add river stone where you need it. ask a farmer they may have a workaround info .

Time to kick this working out/losing weight/getting in better shape thing into high gear.

$100 on the local Facebook market place thingy. I think these things go for over $2k new. Granted this is used and probably old, but in decent shape and great deal for the price. It was heavy AF though. Father in law and I picked it up earlier this afternoon.

Yeah, not bad at all. The only "wrong" with it that I've seen so far is the seat. It's ripped and has tape on it. Seems to be ok. I powered it up, worked fine. Now I have to take it for a test drive.

 

Just a guess, but pull the seatpost out and measure the post diameter. I bet you could buy a seat for about 10-15 bucks if you want to replace it

 

Yeah, probably. Might end up doing that if it bothers me.

 

First things first, you got a nice workout picking it up too

 

Ha - more proof spring is in the air. Some people clearing out, some people getting ready for the nude beaches - LOL.
I also picked up some equipment, but off the Clist. Really wanted it for the off the floor sit-ups. Everything else is gravy.


Getting old, need to strengthen the back muscles. I'll leave the running around to the young guys like Nuno.

 

You ain't kidding man! Heavy as hell. My father in law and I had a "good time" carrying it down the stairs at the house we got it from and throwing it in the back of the Taco.

yep, gotten to the "pretty" stage. I heard 5-8".
I'm hearing the spinning wheels on the hill now, so guess it's getting 'fun' out.
Took the Tacoma to the orange box & got a new ice chopper, old one snapped.
Left the truck in 4HI when I parked it.
