Extended warranty

Lol, I was FBO twin turboed and was pushing 500 wheel HP. I had a blast in that car.

 

I bought a Toyota to not have to worry about warranty expiring.

 

This is a quote I received from Wolverine Toyota in Michigan for the Toyota Extra Care Platinum with $0 deductible. I haven't purchased yet, but at these prices, I probably will.

 

Is your truck 2wd as it looks like that is what the chart says?

 

That’s correct. I’d imagine the quotes are a little higher for 4wd.

 

Those prices do look pretty fair, more components on 4wd would make it a little higher, I ended up going with the 8 year 125k which was $15xx.

 

Skip it! One reason I bought a Toyota was for reliability.

 

So funny i traded in my BMW X5 for the tacoma. Was a great car but always needed fixing. Finally was leaking oil so bad i was embarrassed to even drop it off for the trade in. Yeah if you buy a beemer definitely get the extended warranty

 

You bought a BMW? It does not surprise me you had over 10k in repairs, even if covered by an extended warranty. Most people get rid of their BMWs when the warranty expires.

80,400 on mine. All I’ve done is oil changes and changed the trans and diff fluid. Save your money. A LOT would need to go wrong to cost you $2500.

I haven’t even spent $2500 yet in maintenance and upgrades - oil, filters, air filters, fluids, battery, tires and wheels.

 

Yeah, I sold it a few weeks after my warranty went out and I got the Tacoma. My fiancé kept hers for a year or so and had 5k in repairs and she ended up trading it in for a Mercedes.

When you buy 6 year warranty at the purchase of the truck. Actually it is only a 3 year warranty because the truck already has a 3 year warranty. You probably know this though.

 

How long do you have before you have to purchase it? Those prices sound right with the one my buddy buys right before his warranty expires on his new Toyota's here in Illinois.

 

I think as long as it is still covered by the factory warranty, extended warranty can be purchased

 

They are for peace of mind and help you sleep better at night. Kind of like the A/C drain mod.

 

I may email that dealership and see if they will sell someone out of state a warranty. I still have over 2 years before I will need it. "I may die before then too."

 

Highly unlikely the taco will die on you unless it gets invoked in a wreck or you decide to sell it

You still have to be under the 36k/3yr warranty to be eligible. That dealership does a lot of internet warranty sales. I’m actually in South Carolina and it wasn’t an issue.
