Recently bought new wheels and tires for my 2019 TRD Sport. I put on the new wheels and tires a couple days ago. Today I took them off to check for any rubbing on brake caliper and I do have a little rubbing but it’s not terrible. My specs for the wheels are 17x9.5”, +12 offset, with 5.7” backspacing. Tires are 285/70/r17. They fit on stock height with no rubbing. My questions is does anybody have any insight on the axle bore size for the Tacoma. I’ve seen references of 106.1mm and 108mm. I’m trying to find the right size so I can order hub rings and wheel spacers because my wheel bore is supposedly 112mm according to the manufacturer and push out the wheel for more backspacing. Also, anybody attempt to do a lift kit on their own? Anyway to do without cutting the front cross member? Thanks in advance!

um, I am not sure you typed the correct tire size. I am pretty sure with 285/70/17 tires on 9.5" wheels you would have A LOT of rubbing!

but to answer the other question, 106.1mm is the hub bore size. and on this forum about the only wheel spacer you will hear about getting recommended is Spidertrax. but they only make 1.25" spacers for our trucks and if you add those you will DEFINITELY rub.

Nah, definitely correct tire size on 9.5” rims. They don’t rub, but definitely not a whole lot of clearance though for sure. The upper control arm has about .5” clearance from the tire. I have no doubt with 1.25” spacers it would rub, but I was looking at getting .5” -1” spacers just to provide more clearance on the control arm. I am putting a 4” lift kit as well. Thanks though for the hub bore size!

I don’t have any others and I’ve already swapped them out for stocks. I just had them on for test fit. I did look at how far they came out and it was about a 1/4” to 1/2” out from the fender.

I’m running black rhino Arsenal wheels and Nitto ridge grapplers.

guarantee they will rub in reverse or turning hard or any compression without a proper lift and trimming/cmc/pinch weld foldover.

Yes I drove on it for 2 days.

And eldedo, reverse didn’t rub any. I have no idea on if turning would cause them to rub or not because I didn’t take my turns to hard. I was pretty easy for the most part. I have no doubt that if any compression besides the normal road bumps would cause for some type of rubbing.

 Good looking truck. I like the wheels! Good luck with the lift. Seems like you have a good plan. 4 inch lift and 1.25 wheel spacers will look great.
Put up more pics when it’s done.

Bora wheel spacers. They make 3/4" and up spacers.

Paparee, thanks! I bought a 4” Lift kit and it calls to cut the front cross member to fit in the new crows member and I’m trying to refrain from doing that. I’m thinking I can cut just enough and not all of it. Only reason for it is so so the front diff can drop down. I seen some videos on it and when they dropped it, it didn’t seem to drop much maybe 1-2”. I haven’t taken any measurements yet but I don’t think it would be necessary to chop the whole thing. I don’t know if I’ll put 1.25” spacers on or not. That might push to far out the fender than I’d want. It’s already sticking out a little bit. May end up going with the .75” spacers from Bora that na8rboy recommended. I’d like to find some spacers that have extended studs as well. Stock studs on the Tacoma are short and I feel like I’m not getting enough thread engagement. Could just be me worrying about something that is fine. But will definitely post some pics when it’s all complete!

    Thanks for the recommendation na8rboy!

Just an FYI, with 3/4" spacers the factory studs stick out past spacers a bit. Check your wheels to see if they have pockets between stud holes (Factory wheels due) If your after market wheels don't, you will need to trim factory studs. Bora does make 1' spacers also.

Are you talking about these pockets?

Well I finally finished it up. 4” lift and decided to put 1.5” spacers on.

I installed a new suspension on mine Thursday. It’s 2.5” in front and 2” in rear.
