@OVTune here's another vote in favor of adding a version of the performance tune with throttle tip-in that's somewhere between the current base and the current performance version.

Any one use of the gear lock tune? I’ve been using the 93 GL Tune and when I get into 5th and try to shift to 6th, it won’t let me until I’m about 2000-2200 rpms. Is this right?

 

Anyone have issues with tech stream? Mine is cracked but seems none functional. When i try to connect to vehichle nothing happens. The only thing i was able to use it for was to update to tsb 04b04

 

Did you select the Open Port option?

 

Try taking a little pressure off of the gas pedal—like with a MT-as you shift. Mat said this would be necessary in the higher gears. It works for me.

 

Mini PC - Thoughts? Currently running Windows on my Mac via Bootcamp and it has worked great for the last few years. I have absolutely no use for a PC or Tablet other than for logging and tuning. This could be kind of cool.

 

Worth a try but I think Mat said this is for at or near the rev limiter.

 

my laptop that i've used for tuning for the past idk how long has been on its last legs for quite some time, and so i needed something to replace it. Was looking at windows tablets but ultimately I went with the HP Stream, linked below. Has been working great, and i have techstream on it too. I have the OVT handheld pre-ordered, but I still needed something to replace my older laptop since the handheld requires tunes to be loaded onto it, much like an Accessport or SCT tuner, and since the wife wants to eventually get another 4runner, well it'd be a decent idea to just have something simple that is dedicated to tuning

I wish I could get someone to hack the stock head unit to interface with a USB PC stick. Now that would be sweet.

 

Where did you pick up the splitter? Any issue running ovtune software or techstream while the owl cam is connected too?

I’ve been looking to get a splitter as well. The reviews I’ve seen have been mixed stating intermittent use with multiple connections.

Do I understand correctly that the dyno results are comparing Mat's tune (with/based on last Toyota tune) to a prior "stock" tune?

 

@Deucer01 actually I am having issue lol. Not getting the need update message anymore but can't connect to VIM.

 

Setup> VIM SELECT> make sure you choose "OpenPort" in the dropdown.
