    Guys-
I just got a brand new 2010 Tacoma (pics are on there way) and I am already seeing rust...I have had the thing for five days, and there are little bits of rust showing up along the leaves and whatever piece of metal holds the leaves to the frame. It looks like they are forming from little pebble "chips" being thrown up from the road. But rust, in five days? Is this normal, or does the stealership need a phone call. Thanks.

probally would not hurt to bring that it its attention being 5 days old, mine is barely a week old and my passenger side window sounds like the motor is going in it or something.
Better to be safe then sorry and say something now then later

I wouldn't hesitate to bring it back. It's only going to get worse.

Did you "waive" the undercoating offered at the dealership. I was told that Toyotas are beginning to rust and if not undercoated "repairs" would not be authorized. I waived that option based on 26 years of Toyota trucks. But, my paperwork notes that I waived that option.

    Good luck.

I waived it. I can see where this could lead too. But five days, that is crazy. The dealership was pretty good to work with, so I'm thinking this may get taken care of on their dime. But like I said, 5 days!!! REALLY???

Seems like there is a new Tacoma rust thread every few hours. Search it if you think I'm exaggerating. The paint is useless and the steel isn't much better but if you keep after it, it should be OK, but it is a yearly job either you or what every shop you use will have to do. That's just the way it is.:(

That's pretty much it. The chips are a bit bigger, but that is essentially what is going on.

I'm sure this is sarcastic  sure can't argue with your statement but you can DIY for a lot less. The only alternative is to put up with the rust and dump it B 4 it gets too bad

steel wool or sand paper to the rust and primer and spray paint it. I like flat black enamel. That's what I use on my frame that has rust from riding on it over crests such as the one in my avatar.

POR 15 seems to get the most votes on TW but there are a lot of other methods. Search it. There are tons of threads on this subject on TW.

I think I've had rusty springs on every car/truck I have owned. It's the nature of the beast considering they are flexing all the time, they're located where all the dirt, gravel, water and crud is constantly beating on them. It's the rust elsewhere that merits concern.
