I have one and I’ve used it probably 10 times in the last couple years. No complaints.

Edit: also never had to use it on my truck only other people.

    LOL,

I know when you need a winch you need a winch and you don’t want the cheap one. Is the x20 that shitty? Which Warn would you suggest? I just got a bumper and lights.

I dont think they're that shitty but twice in the last couple years I been with someone who's smitty wouldn't work. I have m8000s on both my trucks and they always work. Just my opinion.

I used mine like three times without issue but never in a real situation. But same as Matt, I’ve seen other people’s fail. On SR one of the guys lost his rear ring and pinion so we had to do a lot of winching to get him out. The free spoil wouldn’t full engage, or clutch disengage, so we were always pulling against it. It sucked ass.

Foodie note. Anyone ever been down to the Bently Ranch Butcher Shop in Minden? I went down there yesterday and they have a pretty good selection with good prices for grass fed and finished beef. And you can hit their distillery too

    There's better but it's a great winch.

Only winch that has ever failed me has been a Smitty. Have always run Warn other than that one and decided to try one since I'd heard good things, but immediately went back to Warn. If you're looking for quality but budget the Warn VR series would be good for you. Our top seller is the Warn VR10-S

Edit: I have also ran Ramsey and Superwinch on ATV's years ago, the Superwinch Tiger Shark 9500 synthetic is a winch I'd like to try out. $499 for a 9500 lb winch with synthetic and looks night and day better quality than a Smitty, HF, or other import winch. Seems like a bargain

My buddy that lives in Gardnerville built that shop for them. He's always ragging about their meat. Still haven't made it down there to check it out yet seeing that my freezer still has elk and antelope in it.

Thanks for the input @RelentlessFab @la0d0g. It’s hard to put a budget on a winch.

Guess I will wait and save some more money for a nicer winch. I’ll check out that VR series from warn

Thats not a bad idea. Never really considered throwing one in my SxS. Would really suck to end up with a dead battery out in the middle of nowhere in the SxS too

I carry one in my Maverick.
I even added Frankenbolts to make it easier (and my compressor has battery clamps)
