I’m seriously considering just throwing a set of 5100’s in it for now and waiting to see what else I do to it that I need to compensate for. Trying to play 4 D chess with future me is exhausting lol.

That point has been brought up in my shop too by my dad lol. It’s going to be a few years and I’m gonna switch between it and my other truck until then. I’ve built a lot of trucks over the years so it’s something I’m hoping I can pass on. Keep them buying truck parts and hunting gear and they won’t have money for drugs right lol?

Be honest with what you intend to do with the truck, don’t get caught up in the hype of king, ads, fox, uniball this, Long travel, resi w/clickers nonsense :bananadead:
I’d go with the something that you can upgrade upon later down the road if you get armored up or buy the biggest baddest setup you can swallow without choking.
I’ve gone down this route it ain’t cheap or easy. Best advice I could give myself if I was to have a do over ride in other peoples rigs different setups and levels of mods an go with you like best.

Ya I never even got into drugs as a kid, well beer but not that other chit. There is a thought on that if you can keep them thinking that way, bring him and yourself to CnC so you can get him excited about it and go from there.

If they stick to beer I’ll be fine with that, no room to judge on that one lol. I for sure want to make one soon, if work will cooperate.

@DiamondW look at it from another angle say you go ome an dakars an for chits 887s, great for all round dd an wheeling without bumpers an winch.
You get bumpers an winch a set of 886 coils to firm up the ride an rid the sag is like 180$. Ome an 6112 are a disposable shock over the years 3 or 4 sets will add up to a good set of front
Coilovers. This type of setup is basically set it an forget till she blows.
Coilovers while they ride smoother an cost more up front it’s the last shocks you have to buy since they are rebuildable. Along with this they do require maintenance such as checking nitrogen levels so often if they are acting outta the normal. The down time to send an receive to get rebuilt us centex guys are fortunate to have a TW member who has the ability to rebuild on site an cheaper. If you bought basic 2.5s you can always get heavier coils an add resi down the line to save some cash if you go this route.

    Sorry for the novel.

Yep. Picked up 5 mph on max gusts here, average now up to 12. Going to go drip the faucets, and put the pool on override.

^^^^^^^^ unless you are positive, great advice above. Only been in a few others, and they all amaze me in their own way. But no way could I make a PICK unless I surely knew what I wanted to different. (If you haven't guessed, I am stock Prefunner suspensionwise!)

Kurt can attest how well the ome setup performs, comfort is subjective

I can! Off road capable, and not bad for comfort over the worst we did. (If you close your ears). On the smooth trails, very complacent ride. Compared to my new stock shocks on smooth trails, pretty darn nice. My "bad" off road on the way in wasn't rock crawling so I have no compare. If I was going to go up, I'd probably start where Matt did - I have no heavy bumpers or armor though.

I only want to bring the front up 1 1/2”, I’m happy with rear height with the new TSB pack. Primary use for the truck is long distance hunting trips. If terrain gets terrible I’m a good hiker lol. It will be tested more on the highway getting there than on trail probably (or when I pass it on lol) but I like to be prepared.

6112/5160 is probably my front runner right now.

5100s and wait to see what armor I end up adding and readdressing, as a bumper and camper are certainly possible if not probable.

Icon stage 1 with 650# springs and build everything else to fit in that platform.

Experts? Isn't Tommy (MrProtaganist) unarmored? Seem if on hunting trails, bumper and winch would be the best add of weight. Armor seems to me like extra weight not needed for his use (based on what you all say, and all of Texoma's armor was lined up on the garage wall)!
Me - I just read what y'all write. I'd lift moderate for trails and good road comfort based on what I've seen.
