Interesting. I’ve never really come across them probably because I usually want high performance panels for gaming with decent quality.

The 1660Ti from nVidia; no nonsense price, no nonsense performance, and a nonsense name.

Nice choice & good deal as well. The Gsync version is on "sale" for the low price of $994.00.

They are backordered until April. I used Google Express and I got it within a day and $20 cheaper. It's only been 2 days but I love this monitor, just need to get a monitor arm.

Thats a nice christmas theme haha. I used to live in Ontario. Have a double double for me if you dont mind.

I want to do a mineral oil submerged system, but cant find any kits to make it an easy setup. Ever since puget systems stopped selling their kits, i think they were the only ones who did.

Picked up a cheap ThinkPad x240 with docking station. Going to make it my little file server.

IIRC they stopped selling them because people were arseholes and complained whenever they messed up their oil or components doing it wrong.

I thought the oil couldn't dissipate the heat with more modern processors. And then there's the mess...

Nah, people used to oil bath 135 watt P4s so today’s chips would be fine heat wise. The mess is a huge issue especially since the oil creeps up any lines that come out of the oil for cooling. It’s more that it’s an aesthetic build rather than a practical one. The oil slowly eats away at the power wire coverings and eventually clouds. Any hardware you use also ends up permanently oiled so you can’t easily swap hardware. Also the cooling is subpar compared to a planned airflow or liquid cooled build.

Mineral oil is just too much work and too much of a mess. And as others have said, paint starts leeching, stickers come off, you just end up with a mess.

Hell I'll admit even my water cooled build is mostly just for looks. They squeeze almost everything they can out of cpus and gpus these days and overclocking is more about winning the silicon lottery with voltages than overheating. I had my 8700k up to 5.1 ghz but it wasn't 100% stable but it would level out around 50*C under load. Now it's at 4.9 and it never even hits 50. Its way overkill on the cooling and you could get the same results overclocking on a good noctua, but I had fun building it.

I was considering selling my system, as I rarely use it anymore. Wondering what a fair price would be...

    CPU: 4790K @ 4.7GHz w/ Noctua DH-15
MB: Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1
    RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws Z DDR3 1600 8GB x 4
    PSU: Corsair TX750
    Case: Fractal Midi R2

It no longer has any drives or GPU inside.
Cable management is not my strong point.

    $150.

Someone also had a ThinkPad S1 Yoga listed for $120. Person told me it was available and then I never heard from them again.

Thanks. Good Deal. I have a family friend (older gentleman) that fell back in July 2018 and was in the hospital/rehab until the end of January. He lives in a split level house. The desktop PC he has is in the lower part. Middle part of the house has the kitchen/living room (TV) and upstairs is the bedroom/bathroom/shower.

I was over there last week helping him with a few things on the PC and thought it might be nice to find him a cheap laptop that he could use on the other floors. Fortunately he has a handicap chair lift that allows him to go up and down the floors but it would be nice (and safer) if he had a laptop that he could sit on the couch with or the kitchen table.

The ThinkPads are probably the best laptops I've had. I also have a ThinkPad 14" Yoga. They feel solid and the keyboard feels nice to type on. Better than the regular Lenovo lineup.
