Well they should be shipping me the kits I believe this week. When I placed the order I was told that they would ship the out between a week to two weeks. He was thinking more like a week. I will touch base with them tomorrow and see what they say.

But would they be 3d printed? I would think a 3D printed switch panel would feel off, when matching it to the opposite side.
Or injection molded? Then that would be the closes to OEM, esp. with a sandblasted texture.

 

I believe meso has access to injection mold pool process.

 

Yup, but if it was injection molded, I believe there is tooling time, and some additional prep work necessary to make the mold.
Would it make it in time for the launch, or come afterwards?

If it was 3D printed, pretty sure it can CAD, Proto'd and printed in the next few days.

I’m pretty sure @mesojdm mentioned a 3D print when we were talking about it. The only thing I have at this point is just a mock of a similar size so we could get a pricing of what something like that would cost to make.



I wanted to get this kit on the market so fast that MESO worked with me. As busy as he is, he drew something up quick just to give me a ballpark figure which I appreciate so much. So PLEASE, do not make comments on “that’s not what it looks like”. Haha. I know guys. Haha I just wanted to show something rather than nothing here. There will need be all the mounting points underneath and all the detail really put into this panel, etc. However, I gave him like 2 days and that isn’t a lot of time to do much of anything so this is more than I can ask for right now and I greatly appreciate it. When putting this project together I didn’t really think of other members not wanting to make the cut for the switch so I never thought about having a custom panel as an option. This was kind of thrown out there at the last second when someone had asked about it. However, if you look at our panel, even though it’s 2 colors with a distinct separation line, it’s all 1 big panel. It will not be a raw 3D print. It will be painted and I have 100% faith in MESO to not release anything out of his shop until he is totally behind it. As for the lead time on these, I am not sure. That is why if you think you are going to want one of these I’d place the order now. He has about 10 products in development right now and they are all at different stages. It’s pretty intricate in design, clips, window switch holes, etc. when he gets a design tho, I’m sure he or I will post it up here for sure.

 

I had an extremely great response so I have reached out to my contact about placing a bulk order. However, I’m going to get this first batch taken care of. But...stay tuned because it’s coming up soon!!!

 

Yes. It is absolutely amazing. You guys are going to love it. It’s one of those features you have that you think why would someone need that. It’s not a big deal. The. You buy a car that doesn’t have that feature and your like, Shit! I want that feature back! It’s something convenient and you never know when it’s going to come in handy.

 

Speaking of more videos, I am sending out my own personal set to @Oscar I today to go through the whole installation process on his own 3rd Gen Tacoma. He then is creating me an installation instruction guide for this kit to hand out to all of you. It is always nice to have an outside perspective prior to full release just Incase you need to make any tweaks here or there for the good of the group. I have asked, as part of this process, for him to take a lot of pictures and video clips of all the features and the Power Folding Mirrors in Action. He does such great work that I am honored to be working with him on this project. It is also nice to have him help me out with this as my hands are a little tied up at the moment. I am super excited for this project to really launch out the door. It’s been a lot of fun in the making!!
