My intention was not to disagree with you. My intention was to inform you and others reading this thread about poorly made products.

Safety is paramount while 4 wheeling. American made products (the good ones, at least) are rated and tested to their ratings. Usually, SWL (safe working load) is 20% of failure load. Overseas produced equipment usually rates SWL at 50% of failure load, and performs marginal if any testing to verify the rating.

There are many cases of improperly rated overseas manufactured products failing, and causing injury and death. Don't believe me - do your own search.

To answer another of your questions - if I am stuck, I will not allow non-rated equipment to be hooked up to my truck to extract me. Nor will I assist anyone using same equipment extract their truck. Death is a serious thing, and I don't want to experience it due to faulty equipment.

    Overboard? Paranoid? Maybe. Alive? Yes.

Good news tumor was benign. They are gunna monitor its size over the next 6 months and see what it does. If it grows it comes out. So now we hope it dont.

Where was the metal that your shackle is mounted to made?
Best practice would be a line dampener and stay out of line of fire.

I think you are misinterpreting the racist idea of "I don't want something made by a (X) person vs the idea that manufacturing philosophies of some countries are inferior to others. Most American companies employ quality measures like error-proofing, quality gates, and composition verification testing.

I worked as a manufacturing engineer in Taiwan for two years and I can assure that specifications, especially for metal composition and grade, are "negotiable" when it comes to eating the cost of scrap or selling bad product. So, not all of their products are bad but the percentage that don't meet spec are higher.
I would rather you chunk that Chinese POS in the woods and use my Crosby so the shackle doesn't snap and let the line whip forward and cut my head off.

They did pass emissions as long as you didn't turn the steering wheel more than 15°
