Eh we don't have to do forest lake... I've done it in my '92 toyota V6 xtracab in 2wd and a 2wd 4 wheeler, never got pinstripes on the truck either. Haha I've done it in the '92 yota at 5am pitch black going bowhunting come to think of it... But it's been a few years since i've been up there. I almost lost my wheeler crossing the first stream due to high runoff

The only thing that saved me was jumping up and down to make the tires grab the creek bed, i was floating! Making it back across was even worse, I didn't have a running start from that side

You have a pair dude. I would have needed a tissue and a change of underwear by that point.

I need a better paying job before another toy so you've got time.

We probably should be a little more specific for a meeting spot at Cabela's, as the main parking lot fills up pretty quickly on Saturdays and they really do have a lot of potential parking areas. Would hate for someone to not be able to join us on something as silly as not finding us.

Also, just so people are aware, there is a fee to enter the AF Canyon. Its only $6/vehicle, but just so no one is unprepared (like me, since I'm not big on carrying cash). Not sure what we're planning but since the fees are there to help maintain the canyon, its probably for a good cause. Considering how quickly they fixed a washed out bridge up near Mineral Basin this year, this is actually a cause that I do support. http://fs.usda.gov/wps/portal/fsinternet/!ut/p/c4/04_SB8K8xLLM9MSSzPy8xBz9CP0os3gjAwhwtDDw9_AI8zPyhQoY6BdkOyoCAGixyPg!/?ss=110419&navtype=BROWSEBYSUBJECT&cid=STELPRDB5043532&navid=160100000000000&pnavid=160000000000000&position=SubFeature*&ttype=detail&pname=Uinta-Wasatch-Cache%20National%20Forest-%20Recreation%20Passes%20&%20Permits

DONE :D. I've got an 80 pick up (so yes it has a solid axel ) but its made it to forest lake plenty of times! granted its sittin on 35's, and 6 inch sus lift with cut fenders

the pick up's are smaller then our taco's.. the road was less agressive few years back last year was THE WORST EVER seen it but fir those that really want to my trucks made it there... but I've lost a wheeler in the river this year cause of the run off. so i know how you are i had to bail. the next weekend went to recover the wheeler a hundred yards down where the river gets more mellow

its only bad in the beginin but its way fun! i'll join you !

as far as cabela's the far south west parking lot rarely gets parked in on the west side of the biulding near the kiaiks...
    - as far as passes i told Matt to put it in the main post so people are aware, but since this is a TACOMA thing only I've got a bunch of freinds with canyon passes i MAY BE able to borrow and lend you all... that is if we get a decent head count and no one bitches if i dont get them one or enough!

I haven't posted that info in the main thread yet since you said you were still thinking about possible trails. Do those all lead to Heber Valley?

k so i just did the run took me near 90 mintutes to jump from the both where you pay for pass to heber side parking lot. both roads that take you to heber are open. one is shorter. one is alot longer.
    - forest lake :D well i made it but its about 40 minute drive up and other 30 minute down. had to use 4 low a few times other then that no rockymountian pinestripes but i did have a passenger to spot for shit like that. other then that didn't spot to much "PLAYING" area  saw pretty view's in my words a " kodak moment" that trucks would look amazing in:cool: . um yeah thats all i kinda did... yes got some pics but started to rain and get dark so didnt take many will post in the morning

I think we should probably hold off on Forest Lake for a more hardcore run, as with a meet/greet type thing, there's a chance we'll be getting some 2wd. Sounds to me like Forest Lake would be about a 4 or 5 on http://www.rr4w.com/pageview.aspx?id=20715 That being said, I would love to try it out, but cant really speak for others. Maybe an after-run for those that want to do it?

How is Miller Hill in comparison? So many different views on the difficulty of it that I dont know what to think. Probably just depends on how much people have moved things and what weather has done though.

Just dont plan anything too extreme for the main run, as many people, including myself, have very little experience and still a bit unsure on limits of our trucks. Every trip helps, but still, experience is something that cant be read about.

well so far its sounding like you, me, and shawn are thinking about it ( going to forest lake) and if us three or more wanted to... we could do as you said an after run.
...miller hill ? never heard of it so i doubt i've tried it. so i cant truely compare. but i do realise that some people have no expiernce

I'm interested in going up to Forest Lake if you think I can make it without any body damage.

I have a 3" lift with 32" tires and "SHOULD" have my sliders by the 21st.

From what I have read Forest Lake can challenge stock vehicles. How difficult is the trail currently? Do you think we would have any problem getting the 4X4 trucks in there without body damage?

If we do Forest lake on the same day but after the main run I won't be able to make it but if its another day i can. If I go to the meet, I've gotta be back in time to take my sweety out for our 1 year anniversary :) And who knows how long the forest lake trip would take with all the winching and the spotting and the screaming and the yelling

as of now ( weather and people change the cousre constantly) i made it pretty alright with no body damage. my truck just has a 2.5 leveling kit on 33's. and NO SLIDERS (though i did have a passenger to watch for stuff on that side) they were aired down to only 18 psi in them though... but I say do main run from cabela's to heber ... and for those willing lets give a big hell yeah to forest lake!

MAYBE if bigger list forms up for the forest lake part it'd make more sense to almost drive it back words start in heber or maybe in orem and just drive up provo canyon from there drive to tibble fork and the lakes then people depart from there and the others turn around to go to forest lake
