Oh I’ll make myself free for that! I felt defeated when we had to turn around.

Spent some time installing a Roto Pax today. I’ve been thinking about where to mount this for about two weeks. At first I thought about hanging it off the RTT rail to use up that dead space and the Roto Pax fit nicely there. Two issues with that are 1) I don’t always run with the RTT on the truck and 2) When I need fuel when fully loaded, it would likely mean unloading gear to get to it. That last thought ruled out putting it up against the back of the cab.

Other info I considered was, I don’t want it hanging outside the bed rack since many of our trails around here get over grown with heavy duty branches (just look at my paint) that could rip it off the truck. Also I will soon have a swing out tire carrier that may provide other options but for now I like the security having it inside the bed affords. I could fit another one in that location stacked and another two on the passenger side stacked which would equal 8gls of fuel. Where it sits now is directly behind the wheel well.

Nicely done! Doesn't take up that much room and you can still stuff small things back behind it as needed.

The AZBDR sections we did that Carter is going to do is very tame, mostly graded dirt roads. In the Tucson area though there are some very challenging trail systems. Really it just depends on how difficult a trail you want to run. There are trails for every skill level within about 45 minutes from the center of town. I’ve done most of them.

Yea I heard the sections were pretty tame from what he said. Considering our group will mostly have kings by April it should make for a fast time. When I get my RCV axle in I def need to check out Tuscon.

Not sure if you were stressing about getting that taken care of before doing the AZBDR, but I’d tell you if it wasn’t for the snow and mud we wouldn’t have ‘needed’ 4WD. As a matter of fact, when we did the first two sections over New Years, @xtremewlr didnt go into 4WD except for maybe twice. I could have gotten away with it too by using the rear locker instead of 4Hi but my son was driving and it made it easier for him.

Oh yea for the AZBDR Im not worried about 4wd I was referring to Tucson. That place sounds like it has some solid stuff. I agree though that the snow probably made it a little challenging.

No pressure. Just let me know when so I can plan accordingly. Did I understand you right @Carter'sTaco , that you’re doing the entire AZBDR in one event?

If you do all the easy lines of section 1&2 and don’t take many breaks/stops you could get through those two and probably all of 3 in one long day. You’ll miss a lot of cool scenery if you’re racing through it though. Section 4 went from easy to moderate so the pace slowed as the trail got tighter and rougher. I doubt you’d enjoy it much if you raced through it.

Dang! Well then! So looks like I leave Thursday April 11th, and will be coming back Tuesday April 16th. I figure Sections1-2-3 Thursday & Friday. Get to 4 around Saturday early to late afternoon. That gives us sunday, monday, tuesday for 4-8...or really whatever we can get done. Ill take whatever time more I need if I do.

    What you guys thinking?

Sunday works perfect for me to meet up with you guys for section 4. Depending on how long that takes us, I might be able to join in for section 5 as well.

@Carter'sTaco if you’re ok with it, I’ll move your post to the AZ Tour thread. You’ll get more action there than my build thread.
