Bilstein 6112s with 700lb Springs

Hey guys, just like the title says, I'm running the Bilstien 6112s up front with the 700# 14" springs. I have the the 6112s set at the 5th notch, as suggested by the retailer where I bought them. Which gives me about 5.5 inches of lift. To much lift. Im wanting about 3" or 3.5". Anybody running this same setup? And if so what notch are you at? Did you set the driver side 1 notch higher than the passenger to counter the taco lean? The 6112s come with 600# 13" springs but I upgraded to counter the wieght of my ARB bumper and winch. The lift has been on for almost 6 months now, so any "settling" should be done. Any info you guys have would be great. Thanks

Update: Just to save you time if your interested in running this same combination. Don't. If your needing some higher spring rate springs, go with the Bilstein 650# springs. Part number 53-291387. Hope this saves you some time instead of reading this whole thread.

 

I'm looking at the same question, my 6112's are on the forth notch and have sagged a little, hoping a 14 king springs could be used at lower perch and stay at @3 inch lift (600-650) range no heavy bumpers in near future.

Yeah, it's about 5.5" right now, stock height before the lift, from bottom of fender flare to hub center was 20 1/4" DS, Currently roughly 25 1/4" DS, give or take from the way its sitting now. When I first installed the 6112s it gave my truck a massive bro lean, even though the rear already had 2" of racke stock. So I just want to know which clip setting to go to to get the 3" 3.5" range. I'm taking it to a shop to get done, so I'm hoping for a one and done fix. I don't want to take it in 2 or 3 times to get it right, I'd rather take it in once and be done. So I don't have to pay for it 2 or 3 times and set up multiple appointments yadda yadda yadda....

 

do you have ANY droop at all? 5.5in of lift is WAY too much, your poor CV's if you are 4x4 are not gonna live long. 600# to 700# springs that are an inch longer.... those 6112's are not going to be valved properly for that much spring. Id say go back to 600# springs so you get the standard lift amounts per clip.

 

According to Wheeler offroad, the 6112s should be fine with 700# springs, its just they are set at way to much preload on the 5th clip, and yes there is a a lot of angle on my CVs hence why I want to lower it back down a bit and on my UCAs well, at full droop they contact the spring, so I just want an educated guess on what clip setting to set them at, so I don't have to remove them and do it again.

 

It seems to be loosely 1" of lift per 1/2" of adjustment to shock length. So if you want to go down 2" you want the clip roughly 1" lower on the shock.

This is assuming your shock is not currently topped out at ride height by using a longer and higher rate spring. you might want to error on the side of caution and lower the adjuster 1.25"-1.5".

An alignment will be needed and at 3" of lift if you have original upper control arms you will not be able to get your alignment back into stock spec

Ok, that makes sense, being i am running the longer 700# springs. Maybe drop down to the 1st or 2nd clip setting. But oddly enough I just had it aligned and everything went right back to spec, according to the tech at the dealership. He just warned me that I may have premature wear on my CVs at the height.

 

I would just measure from where the clip is now down 1"-1.5" and move the clip to the closest notch to that.

It is not guaranteed to be exactly where you want it but should get your close.

At the amount of lift you have your CV's and upper ball joints are not happy.

 

Wheelers off road site says they give .5-2.5" of lift

I don't think 5" is possible with these

6112's #5 notch @600#, front plate bumper, w/winch on a 2.7 4x4. I feel I'm still slightly high by about .75" in the front. Also running a/p expo leaf pack in the rear with 5125's.

The 600# are enough for what I use my truck for. I may drop down to the 4/3 setting.

I was using before the current change 5100 eibach 521-600 5th notch w/.375 top spacer which was sitting even lower with spring sag

 

The height quote for these on the wheelers off road site is for the standard 600# springs. I have the 700# springs, so it's not going to be the same. The only reason I went with the 700# springs was because I emailed and spoke to many different online retailers including Headstrong off road, and wheelers off road and a few others. They all had the same thing to say, because I have an ARB front bumper and winch I should consider upgrading to a higher spring rate spring. And since I'm no expert, and since I consulted said "experts" I went with their advice and upgraded

 

Yeah, I was originally going to just buy the stock 6112s, with the 600# springs, but multiple online retailers advised I upgrade to higher spring rate springs, to achieve the 3" lift I wanted with my bumper and winch.

 

Yeah, sorry, I'll get some pics in the morning. And no, my CVs wont be lasting very long at all. When I took my truck in to get an alignment, the tech called me back and warned me that at that high of lift, it's going to be putting a lot of strain on my CVs. He advised I either lower it down or get a diff drop kit. I have heard that the diff drops aren't really worth it so I'm going to have the 6112s adjusted instead.

 

I’d like to see 5.5 inch lift on these if you have a pic handy.
I have the second gen version of these topped out at the highest setting and I’m at just over 2” - But standard 600 lbs.

Good luck OP. Keep us posted. Looking forward to pics. Have you reached back out to the dealers you spoke too and told them how much damn lift you got?
I'm no expert either, but if you got that much with the combo and you go to a lower notch.. it would lower but I'm curious about ride quality? As cush as it should be? How is it now? Seems you don't have enough weight which seems off with an ARB bumper.

There are other 6112 threads that you would get more responses from people with them and most likely with 700 coils too. If you can't find them let me know.

I've got 6112 with 700 lb springs that are getting installed next weekend I'm doing lowest setting so I'm don't have a preload on the shocks also running maxtrac spindles I'm trying to stay under 4"

 

I'm at about 3.5" and its not all its cracked up to be.
