Yes I willdrill the small holes. Having a magnet hold it in place is not a option for me. I am curious to see in the instructions how this actuator gets mounted, I read where guys are using a 2&4, piece of channel etc. I read also not to bend the wire on the actuator, so there are many different ideas floating around. I will follow the instructions once I receive the kit. Here in Pa. that will be weeks from nowaccount of the weather. Maybe someday I will move where it does not rain every other day. Wishful thinking

I moved to AZ from NY. I know what rain and humidity is like. Couldn't take it anymore. Here in the Phoenix area we avg 300 days of sunshine per year. If you can bear a few months of heat the rest of the year is great!

I moved to Pa from the Bronx, Being raised in the Bronx and moving here was a huge change. I made the move in the 70,s. The only thing I miss is my friends down there.

Sorry for the confusion. I have this magnet for another purpose, I have not actually used it for this mod. When the one guy expressed concern over drilling two holes in the tailgate I offered this as a possible alternative. My thought was take a piece of flat stock, steel or aluminum, or use a outlet blank from the electrical section and bolt that to the magnet. Then screw the actuator to that piece and place the magnet where it would normally be screwed per install instructions.

I don't have the PNP kit yet. When I do I will install it with the magnet just to see if it works for anyone interested, then I will bolt it in drilling the two holes because I am not worried about drilling two holes in a spot that is unseen.

Understood and thanks, I figured you are doing it that way. For some reason no matter how strong the magnet I would not trust it for this application, one good dip in the road and it will move. I have several good magnates I purchased for my fire arms and they move from time to time. This is a great idea though, but I am drilling. I guess you could use 3m double sided tape. That stuff is pretty strong, for me I am drilling and I would like to see how to attach that actuator.

It's be nice to have both those leads spliced in. But it's still better to positap the jumper harness than the OEM one.

You can always pull the necessary pins from the harness and solder in the leads for that of it's not the same and it's on the plug. Easier to do that outside the vehicle for sure.

So, how is the anodized bracket, pictured below used?

It could be bent/shaped to mount the actuator level with the lock mechanism.
